My Dad bought this car with 600 miles in 1989. It is a 1986 late model year. The previous owner had driven it back and fourth to erie,pa from cleveland, oh twice before he traded it back in for something else in 1989. My Dad bought it from Continental Sports Cars in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio in summer 1991 while my Mom was pregnant with my older brother, Mike. My Mom had told him to go and get a family car for the baby, as their Pontiac Grand Am was not big enough, preferably a Chevy Blazer was her thought of a family sized SUV. My Dad was driving around before he saw the Maserati sitting in front lot, chrome trident on the grill , gleaming in the sun. He came home with the Maserati for $16,000 , and my Mom HATED it. There was no back seat, it was too small, too much power, and too much glitz. She told him to take it back but my Dad had refused. Pondering what to do, he drove back to the very same dealer and bought the Blazer he had for sale, and got to keep the Maserati all in the same day. My dad only drove the car around Akron for business meetings, and took people around the city in it to show the real estate. In 1994, the brakes went out while driving around the busy city.He managed to get it into a parking lot without crashing, phew! He stopped driving the car for a while after it was fixed because he was scared of it. So a year later he decided it was time to take it out again. He still had a few fun cruiser cars , including a 1969 Firebird 400 4spd Convertible. The steering box had became loose and the power steering pump had leaked out completely in the garage. He towed the car back to the dealer , with only about 12,000 miles on it in late summer 1995. This had changed my Dads feelings about When i was a little kid, when all this was happening, i had always loved the car a lot. There is pictures of me sitting in the driver seat when i was about 5 pretending to drive it. I had always told my Dad to never sell it , as i wanted it when i turned 16. So it sat, in the garage with VERY low miles. during this 4 year time period it sat neglected in the garage, it was used as a storage and many scratches had developed on the mint , original paint job. In 1999, when we moved out of a residential, urban neighborhood community of Akron, We had to take the car with us. My dad had jumped it with jumper cables and it actually started right up . I remember all the smoke coming out of the exhaust and smelling really badly. My dad and drove it to our rural new house in the middle of a field, in which we live today. After this, my dad started driving it more to work everyday until 2003 when the car had 21,000 miles. The Mas started running sluggish and it was related to a problem with the original carburator, and it needed rebuilt the dealer said. It was rebuilt and it was running great again. Ever since, the car has had regular service every 3,000 miles and its kept up great and the turbos still make the car fly. it sounds like it can tear any other car apart on the road and gets decent gas mileage. The timing belt was replaced at 30,000 miles, along with a major tune-up including a valve job spark plugs, wires, dist. cap, ect. We decided to five the car a fresh paint job as it was fading slightly and scratched up. it looks 100% now. The car runs like a champ. I drive it in the summer and spring months and it is very fun . I get a lot of thumbs up, and 'nice car' compliments wherever i go. I put in a nice kenwood radio and speaker in the back behind the seats. I drove the car to Colombus a few times with Joe Walsh blarring in the back. Lots of fun in this car ! it has only 33,xxx miles and is a fantastic car that has been a family trademark since 1989.
