It seems a natural progression to enter my Porsche 996GT2 in the UTCC after running the One Lap of America the last couple of years. A little history of my One Lap of America history. In 2007 Adam Breakey partnered with me for 2007 OLOA in an E46M3 that I modded with full suspension, rollbar, race seats and a gutted interior, ( I did keep the AC and Cruise :-) ) We had no idea how we would do and were THRILLED to win our class SSGT1 SB and finish 16th overall, this included a dnf @ Pueblo with a blown Pwr Steering Hose :( . My plan was to run the M3 again in 2008 with Ian Stewart co-driving but a blown motor @ Roebling Road derailed the effort with the M3. Plan B kicked in in March 2008 and I quickly did light mods to my 2005 Porsche GT3, Moton CS and Race seat and off we went. Ian drove the wheels off the GT3 to keep us in contention, 3rd overall, until VIR where I ran on a drying track and we fell back. Ultimately we finished 4th overall and 4th in SSGT1 BB.
Plans for 2009 were to run the GT3 again with a re-geared Transmission and better LSD. That all changed in November when I got an opportunity to purchase a 2002 996GT2.

The GT2 has RS uprights with all monoball's, Moton 3 way Motorsports shocks, Cockpit adj. rear swaybar, Giac Tuning, GMG exhaust, Roll Bar, and Euro GT3 seats. Ian Stewart is my co-driver again this year and it is going to be a HOOT. The competition is going to be strong with GTR's, Viper ACR's, C6ZO6, 997GT3RS, C5ZO6 etc. None of these cars are stock LOL.
Pulling the Motons to send to Lex @ Moton as they were the wrong shocks, 996 Cup Car which have limited droop. This is not good for a GT2 street car, It causes some very interesting handling.EEEK

Testing at Sebring for the 2009 Tire Rack One Lap of America on street tires. Best lap was a 2;20.4 secs which is 5.2 sec faster than the GT3. Ian Stewart driving. Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsfdIJeWUgY

The results are in we finished 2nd overall and 2nd in class SSGT1 BB in the 2009 One Lap of America. We were running neck and neck with the eventual winner, Will Taylor/Steve Rankins in a Nissan GT-R until we hit 2 cones @ the BMW performance Center event which cost us 20 sec. and a loss of 90 points to the GT-R. The only way we could win was for the GT-R to make a mistake which they didn't.

Some OLOA tidbits our Sebring fast lap was a 2:18.7 and Daytona 24 hour course fast lap of 2:01. Gainesville drag was a 1.86 60 ft 11.778 @ 122 mph.
