Suspension, Drivetrain and Brakes
The next area I concentrated on was the suspension
I ripped out the old suspension. It was comfortable but it was leaking and had way too much sway in the corners.
I installed Bilstein Sport Shocks and Eibach Race Springs. Its a stiff ride on the street, but drives like its on rails on the track.
Here are some pictures showing the ride height before and after. It was "monster trucking"
Before
After
I replaced the rear Shock Mounts with Ireland Engineering Biller Aluminum Mounts
Up next was the Sway Bars. I installed UUC SwayBarbarians. They are a very noticable improvement. They are 27mm front and 24mm rear.
I then pulled the rear trailiing arm bushings and installed Ireland Engineering's Urethane Bushings. They really tightened up the rear end of the handling.
I also installed Ireland Engineerings Urethane LCA bushings. They are stiff and noisy, but I can live with it.
I've also installed Mason Engineering Front and Rear Strut Bars. These are the one piece bars with no swivel points.
This car came with the factory Cold Weather Package. This means it came stock with a 3.15 Limited Slip Differential. Hooray.
I replaced the clutch with a Factory BMW S50 clutch and Ireland Engineering Lightweight flywheel.
I then installed a factory BMW factory Z4 Short Shifter.
For the brakes, I've installed UUC slotted Rotors with Hawk Pads. They're great. I made my own SS lines using the help of a local Baltimore hydraulics shop.
