FLIGHT TO AUBURN - HWY49 - PART II
SOUNDS .... RASPY!
NEW VIDEO:
Where am I going? --- Where am I NOT going...
(that's a better question... he he...)
Fixed the Tach... had a few issues with the shift coupler, but fixed that really good!
OVERALL NOT A BAD DAY IN THE GARAGE.
SACRAMENTO SUNSETS are HARD TO BEAT!!!!
You can always see more at: http://www.74911RS.com/
Seats are delivered. Woah. That leather smells like MONEY! (yea, that good)
The electrical is now 99% done, and a few things are needing attention,
but basically we are ready to start this motor.

WE'RE ONE STEP CLOSER; there just ain't a whole lot left to do!
Today Tim came by and helped me track down most if not all
of the wires - leaving only a few more to be hooked up.
The remaining wires are:
The fuel pump (need a new one),
Brake light foot switch... and
at the rear:
MSD unit - Following the Motor install.
That should be done this week.
She sure is pretty with the lights on. There was a tense moment when we realized we had left the fuel pump wired up with no fuel in the tank and the rear fuel lines wide open.
I don't remember hearing the fuel pump at all, so I think it was bad before we even turned the key.
I have had one out of the car, testing it, and it makes a pretty good humming sound when on.
That means I have to replace the fuel pump, and then we'll be ready to go.
Dash Pad is now re-finished:

MOMENTUM IS FINALLY BUILDING!
WE'RE shooting for a MID JULY FIRE UP PARTY! With the motor 90% now, and the missing parts pretty obvious to see, we're getting a final list together and TOM AMON is going to assist in firing up the motor for a real barn burner! I hope to hear that sucker for the first time in mid July. Then it's back to the painters for a final once over (color sanding and final shine up) and interior shop for the seats and internal touches. Alcatera seats and other touches, with yellow stitching. Should shine right up!
It should be ready to drive to the Monterey Concourse de Italia. if you're in the SF Bay area, you may want to see about that show, it's pretty cool. ALL KINDS of cars, and I am sure my car will fit in somewhere. It's not a million dollar machine, but it's MY machine - and I built this sucker with my own two hands. That is going to be pretty cool.
HAVE WEB CAM - WILL INVITE!
FiNAL Mounting of the Brake Fluid reservior... The cleanup process below... No grimies in my brakelines!!
Inital issue, and test fitting. Now to clean and coat that bracket.
The cleaned up reservior....
Tightning bolts for the WUR... a particularly testy peice of equipment. It's the cause of so much drama on my 78 SC that I owned for years. The main thing is to be sure it's getting power. (wiring is good in this case, so I am confident it wil) Last image above is replacing the stud that sheered off, while I was trying to remove it. The bugger was bent badly (apparently during the un-install some 20 years ago, after the motor was harvested from the wreck - that accompanied this project... - if you need more info: http://www.74911RS.com/
UP FOR THIS WEEKEND:
1. Install Main Wiring Harness
2. Install brake system for rear
3. Install Headliner (if I have time)
FOLLOWING WEEKEND
1. Install Windows, Sunroof
2. Install Door panels, door lock mechanisms
3. Finish CIS, Re-install motor
KEEPING THE PICTURES COMING.... Hope you like it.
MORE RECENT PHOTOS> MOTOR OUT... will reassemble CIS and re-install motor, but first shocks brakes and wiring harness... Putting the motor on a stand is fairly easy. I have a nice chain hoist. It's safe and easy.
The only things I have to go are some of the hardware for the WarmUp Regulator, and a few odd and ends... Need to update the intake air box with the pop-off valve.
CIS REASSEMBLY 90% COMPLETED - The wiring harness on the motor was a breeze. I still cannot believe the condition of the wiring that came out of the wreck. It is in almost new condition, no breaks, no hardness in the wraps, or insulation for the wires. Even the infamous 'green wire' for the distributor is perfect. Sweet...
I am working on getting my monster rolling in about 2 months time. Still to go: Electrical Harness (going in this week) and a lot of interior, and motor assembly. Brakes are in the works. Lot's of details. I have a yellow roll cage and sway bars (also both yellow) coming out next week. That'll pop. Stay tuned...

Back to the Ol' School look - for now... keepin' both sets of wheels. Wow. Those pop!
SEE PAGE 7 for more PICS...enjoy!
Refinished the bilsteins front and rear:
GOT Goodies... Hardware for brakes, windshield wiper motor, and stock Bilstein's (need refinishing, but good)
I'll be posting a lot more pictures of:
1. Interior. Got sport seats, rear seats, dash parts, and all but carpet. The seat belts are in. Minor ajustment to b-pillar must happen Saturday, then I can do the headliner. Sunroof is almost completed (parts install)
2. Suspension, brakes and wheels: Have a set of 16" fuchs coming in a few days. 7's and 8's which should look killer, not that I don't like the turbo twists. I do.
3. The windows are now set to go in. I have pop out windows, and need to adjust the b-pillars so they will mount perfectly. A little bit of tack welding is all that is required.
4. Engine. Big thing I need to do is remove the engine, and finish it up next week or so.
5. Electrical. I have an entire good harness ready for me on Saturday. It's going in this weekend, along with the tranny linkage.
ALL big plans, but not probably going to happen like clock work. We'll see. Either way, alot of great pictures are going to be coming out soon.
Thanks for staying tuned!!!
Here is a few goodies... More tomorrow... 6/5
TOPLEFT > BOTTOMRIGHT: Before, Self Etching Primed, Caliper RED, Installed.
Tonight I did: TURBO TIE RODS. What a difference in the steering. It's solid...
And Front Cross Drilled Rotors.
Tomorrow: Welding B pillar final spot... and install some interior stuff.

Sweet new crest hood badge... 02/06/2009
Motor is being rebuilt this weekend, and shooting for a summer completion date. By June would be nice.
SOME PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL CREATED BY OPTICAL FUEL (My Company)
HERO CARDS (for fun)
I HAVE A TON of PICTURES. 1000's actually. Where to begin...
Right off the get... Being the 3D VISUAL MODELING Quazi-Expert ...
I created my own VIRTUAL 911 that I wanted this car to become:
Basic Project History:
< STEP 1: Bought Project + Donor $7,500
|
|
|
| Took some guts to buy this sight unseen! |
|
ABOVE: Wrecked 1980 SC, salvaged for parts ($3,500 worth at least) |
|
Donor History: Same guy who sold me the shell (above) and wreck below actually wrecked it April (Easter) of 1985. He had just bought the car European delivery and picked it up Port of Oakland three months prior. He was 20yrs old at the time and was inexperienced. He barely survived wrapping it around a pole at 100+ MPH!!! Said he was doing 118 MPH before he lost control on a curve somewhere in ORIVILLE, CA. The new shell was his dream car going together (years later) to replace that car. He never completed the project, but is very excited to see it being put to good use.
Now after that history lesson, maybe we can look at some other stuff... Plenty to see, some of it not too pretty. (until later)
MOTOR BELOW, WRECK IT CAME FROM ABOVE...
EWWWW!!! (is that RAT piss?)
