BLACK ARTS RACING PRESENTS
"THE BLACK ARTS PROJECT"
Welcome to Black Arts Racing's Car Domain page. What is Black Arts Racing? Black Arts Racing is just a name I came up with for my grass roots racing efforts. Our philosophy is pretty simple. Go as fast as we possibly can for the smallest amount of money possible!
All racing is funded by me and my family. In other words, we are not in this to make money, nor do we have sponsors. However, We will gladly except any and all help or sponsorship. With that being said, Welcome and I hope you enjoy viewing our page.
The goal for the The Black Arts project is simple, build a mid 11 second street car! This is no trailor queen! I want to build a car that can be driven to the race track (with interior), rip off some 11 second passes and driven home.
Exterior and motor

Nitrous system
Since I've installed the 50 Trim turbo, I probably will not run nitrous. However, The system remains. Who knows? one day I might get the balls (and money) to build a dedicated race car with a goal of 10 second passes.

Turbo & exhaust
My wife was nice enough to buy me this used custom 50 trim turbo kit to replace the broken modified stock turbo that I had on the car. I purchased it from Scott at Forward Motion. The coolest thing is, the fact that the entire kit cost less than you would pay to have someone build you a custom tubular exhaust manifold like this one.

Custom 02 and 3" downpipe

A few pics of the finished product. Right now the car is getting a custom exhaust built to go along with the new 02 and downpipe.

Hear is a pic of my custom exhaust. I decided to go with a single exit because the truth of the matter is the car is a inline 4-cylinder, not a V6 or V8!!

Supension & drive train
For now I'm riding on a set of Eibach springs and stock struts. The car also has Prothane race inserts on the top and bottom motor mounts to help combat wheel hop. What you don't see is the SPEC Stage II clutch. I also have a short shifter and Rage-Tek shift bushings.
I will be upgrading to a full set of motor mounts in during the off season.

Management & nitrous control
My Buddy Scott (Legion24) installed my AEM wide band air & fuel monitor as well as by N2MB wot box and 2-step.
When it comes to engine management and nitrous control , I want to keep things super simple! I Have a Diablo Sport for tuning fuel and timing. I control my nitrous with the N2MB wot box/2-step and nitrous controller. Want to learn more? Check out N2MB Racing. I also have a AEM wideband for monitoring the car's air fuel ration

Old Dyno sheet
Back in April of 09, I took the car to get dyno'd. I wanted to get a couple of base line pulls in order to understand area's I needed to fix and or upgrade. What I found out was that I had (maybe have) a wiring problem with my nitrous system.
The car was dyno'd on a Dyno Dynamics dyno. They read @ 12% lower than most Dyno Jet dyno's. The Chart shows pulls done with the stock turbo. The first pull is at stock boost levels (12-14 psi). The 2nd pull is on higher boost (18-19 spike).

These numbers seem low right? Remember this dyno reads lower, so if you add 12% you will get numbers simular to a Dyno Jet dyno. But what's important is having a baseline to work from, not what the number is. I look for my results on the RACE TRACK, NOT ON A DYNO SHEET!!
