Thanks to those of you who commented :).
NOTE: I will probably be selling the Cavalier due to the fact I can find much more tunable cars at lower prices. At an auction I was at on Thursday the 22nd, a Silver 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT sold for $2,100. Since my car cost me $2,300, I'm quite annoyed at this, as such, I will be selling it for a Tiburon/Civic/Eclipse. (Hopefully a Tiburon :P)
Original problems (Major and minor, all fixed):
-Driver's side door lock jammed and binding. Forced me to enter the car Dukes of Hazzard style. :P Took apart the door and fixed the lock.
-Bad catalytic converter. Replaced with universal Magnaflow converter.
-Trunk frame bent, lid inoperable. The trunk's frame by the bumper was bent inwards, causing the trunk to not open. This can be seen in the picture of the back of the car. Also caused the trunk to leak. Pulled out the frame and fixed the trunk lock.
-Bad front tires. About 85% wear. Got new ones.
-Bad MAP sensor. Replaced with new one, made the car run rich and killed the catalytic converter.
-Bad plugs/wires. I'd swear these weren't changed since the car rolled off the lot in '01 if it weren't for two different kinds of spark plugs in the car.
-Bad air filter. Was bent and had a gaping hole in it... Got a new one.
-Driver's side door speaker blown. Replaced.
Not fixed:
- Gauge cluster problems. As seen in the pictures, the speedometer light burned out and the odometer light burned out, can't even see it in daylight.
-Bad steering rack. Steering wheel has a little play.
I'm going to list what will be done to the car, in the order it's going to be done in. Order will probably change, as well as what I'm getting at that point.
1. Cold air intake. Going with the CAI from RDFabs. About 200 dollars plus tax.
2. New gauge cluster, 140mph conversion and tach, blue LEDs. The old one wont cut it. Will rip apart the dash at this time and change the HVAC lights aswell.
3. New exhaust system, from header to tailpipe. Pacesetter header, Magnaflow catalytic converter and muffler. 2.5in diameter piping. Stainless steel. Will have RDFabs install. Should run about 800 dollars. Unless I find a header with a flex joint I'll need new engine mounts aswell.
4. New speakers. Nothing amazing for now, just something better than the horrid stock speakers. Probably some decent Sony's.
5. ECU upgrade. Currently debating on what to put in it.
6. Shocks/springs. Thought about going Eibach, but I read they have really soft rear springs which cause the rear axle to bottom out on the exhaust. Will probably go Koni. Drop it 2 inches all around.
7. Rims. 18 - 19 inch, depending on what size they're offered in. Found some Volk rims for 1k, going with the GTS wheels. Only found them offered in 19 and 20 inch, hopefully I can find some 18s.
8. Engine rebuild. Will be taking the entire engine out of the car and stripping it down to the block and cleaning every piece. New injectors, forged pistons and connecting rods, and a billet aluminum crankshaft. Will upgrade the clutch to handle more torque and install an aluminum flywheel.
9. Fun stuff. Bodykit, spoiler, and paint. I'm really thinking the car would look cool in yellow-orange, especially if the rims are chome.
10. Gauges. Three pod A-pillar mount, going with Autometer Cobalt gauges, because they'll match the gauge cluster. Oil temperature, oil pressure, voltmeter (digital).
More to come...
