Roadmaster
Here is the epitome of going fast with class. Luxurious behemoths that can actually perform and get relatively good mileage, they certainly surprise most people. The Roadmasters from this vintage borrowed the powerplant from their cousins - the Chevrolet LT-1. Basically a tuned-down Corvette engine, these evolved small blocks can typically last to 300,000 miles with proper maintenance - that's diesel territory! On the flip side they all got the 4L60-E slushbox that will generally only last half of the engine's potential lifespan.
I am currently replacing the wonderful Optispark™ distributor for the second time. They are notoriously finicky and a HUGE pain to replace as you must disassemble the front engine components. I got the dreaded Misfire on One or More Cylinders CEL code which must mean either I did not install it correctly the first time or the Summit replacement unit is bad (which I understand is not that rare).
I have been searching for a nice set of wheels in the 18-20" range that are a multi-spoke design (like 10 or 12 or 20?). I want something like the wheel shown to the right... But it seems that wheels for this specific car are somewhat difficult to find - or at least the choices are limited. I have also been gathering stereo equipment to install someday as this is more of a luxury car than a performance machine, at least to me. Also very high on my to-do list is a nice window tint. So, I will try to get more photos to post and until next time, go Buick!
