This is my 2004 G35 Coupe 6MT w/ premium package. I bought her new in Oct of 2003. I originally had no plans to mod her due to the G being a great car. The car has always been garaged and is my play toy. I have a daily driver that gets good gas milage. After 5 years I just broke 15,000 miles. I have always been a car enthusiast. Growing up my dad used to take me to auto-x every weekend, in which both my father and mother raced. We also did all our own maintenance.
Early in 2008 I considered trading it in for a new G35S or waiting for the G37. Then I thought its paid off ... it has low miles ... I don't want a car payment ... so why not mold her into what I want. I started doing some research and the mod bug hit me pretty hard. I started with simple bolt ons then went nuts with the exhaust and body kit. I have done most of the wrenching myself with a little help from a friend with access to a lift. I have the electrical work done at a tuner shop, because I don't have experience with car electronics and don't want to mess up the electrical system. I had the body kit professionly hung and painted because I wanted it to look ... well ... professional.
Future plans include upgrading the brembos with SS brake lines, new performance pads, and maybe new rotors. New rims are definitely in the future, but I go back an forth on style and quality of rim. I may do some more suspension upgrades, but do not plan on dropping the car. It already sits dangerously low for my driveway vs. the body kit.
My major future plans are forced induction. I'm already saving up for the project and just have to decide on which route I want to go. Do I A) want a reliable daily driver with around 400hp/400tq or B) do I want to build the engine and go for big power with a twin turbo setup. Plan A would most likely either be a Vortech setup or an STS rear mount turbo. I like these two options because I can do most of the install myself and would just need help with the electronics and tuning. Plan B would require a lot more money and a professional build since I do not have the facilities to pull and build the engine myself.
Well thats my car story.
