Car on trailer ready to go to track for first time. Unfortunately the rain did not let up for that weekend at Grand Bend, Ontario. Special Thanks to my Brothers Troy and Jason, Dad Frank, and friend Matt for helping get this car done. Couldnt have had it done on time without them.
Brought the car to the track in Milan, Michigan the next weekend. Brother and friend thought it would be funny to put the words "SNOW PLOW" on front bumper at Grand Bend while i was asleep in my tent. I found humor in it so i actually left it on there for a couple weeks. People seem to either love the bumper or hate it. I like it. Its different. Just needs a bit of fixin on right front.
Finally got my first run in with the car. Ran 12.10 @ 116mph. This was much faster than any of us expected so we were quite happy. During this first run i actually blew the header gasket. We ran to a local parts store to replace it. After fixing this problem as well as a few small others, we bumped the timing to 36 degrees and ran a 12.03 @ 115.
We made it back to Grand Bend, Ontario a few weeks later for the rain make up. I actually blew the trans the weekend before at Milan on my first run there that day. The trans mount broke which resulted in the trans rotating and the bellhousing on the trans cracking all the way around. The only thing holding the trans to the engine was the torque converter. So again with the help of my father, brother, and friend we were rushing to have the car ready for Grand Bend. By the time we got a new trans we had 2 nights to complete the swap. I finished the morning of race day and we rushed the car to Grand Bend 2 hours away from home where we made it just in time for the 2nd and final qualifying round. They actually teched my car while i was in the staging lanes.
Ran a new best time this weekend of 12.024 @ 115mph. New trans worked well for a $150 used stock trans. Did nothing but swap the shift kit from the broken trans. 60' time actually dropped 5 hundredths. While first gear seemed to work much better 2nd and 3rd didnt seem all that great, so Im expecting some much better times next year after the trans is rebuilt. I did finally run my goal of an 11 second pass. Car ran 11.94 @ 117 at Milan just before i put the car away for the winter. A carb spacer, cooler temperatures, and a few other small fixes helped achieve this. Cant wait til next year. Want to get 11.50s on all motor and then spray my way into the 10s
