Here it is 2009 and another race season . I wiped the cam so the engine has been completely torn down, cleaned, and reassembled for the next run: The Siver State Classic Challenge only a few weeks away. It sure sounds good through the 3" X-pipes with itty-bitty 18" glass packs ! Hopefully it will run as good as it sounds - it has to pull 4000-5500 rpm for 40 minutes straight. The car also has new tires and harnesses this year. I'll be shooting for 135 mph average speed.
Degreeing the cam. No offset required as it was right on 106.
Dropping it in with the new aluminum plate-welded valve covers. Man, those things are cool looking.
Ready to Run:
The radiator box up front is also new and is really going to channel air for maximum cooling effect. The other benefit is keeping air from boiling around up inside the fenderwells and other places where it does nothing but slow you down. The oil cooler sits in the bottom of air box. Here I come, Neveda.
My Hotel in Ely had a great view....

The start line view was pretty good too: Cuda and Pantera front two cars on the grid:

And a cold one at the finish line:

Our time was 6/10ths of a second off pace and was good for 5th place in the 135mph average speed class. As usual, a good time was had by all !
