Hi. This page was put together to generate interest and provide information on Open Road Racing !
Page 1 : Introduction to Open Road Racing
Page 2: Rebuilding the junkyard dog.
Page 3 : Retiring from daily use and building a race car.
Page 4 : Going faster.
This is my ride. What began in 2003 as fairly stock car running in the 100mph average speed class for what was to be ONE event, has now become a hobby for me. This is how the car appears today with an Indy-head 383, 4 speed AOD, 8-3/4 axle with 3.23 gears. Top speed to date is about 165mph. It's been on radar at 162.
The car has lots of other go-fast and safety features including a big aluminum radiator; oil, and axle coolers; a 22 gallon fuel cell; subframe connectors; reinforcing of the steering box mount, K-frame, and lower control arms; roll cage; fire suppression system, big torsion bars and sway bars, and a lot of aluminum sheeting on the nose to improve air aerodynamics whicle maximizing cooling efficiency.
This sport is a hell of a lot of fun. You should try it out ! If your'e not ready to run, volunteer to be a courseworker at an event to see what it's like. You won't regret it. You'll get to hang out with some fun people, watch some really fast cars, and actually be a key part in running the event. For information on Open Road Racing, please check out:
