Your looking at my 1983 Z28, dubbed "Project Killer Z" by many. I've got countless hours into building it, and while it may not be the biggest or the baddest, its got a part of me in it I can never get back. This is going to be a shortened version, so lots of pictures and details will be left out.
Lets get a little story going here!
First off, I started this project with my father when I was 14. Of course he was just there for guidance though, like he was going to really going to do the dirty work, haha. Anyways, I started my project with a 1974 350 4 bolt main with 24,000 miles, pictured below.
Looks like a nightmare to start with. And it was. (Just ask me how I know.) But, I was persistent. After a few hours or so of cleaning, it looked like this:
Few days and a crap load of wire wheels later the block was down to bare metal. I also did a full valve job and a mild port and polish on the heads. Who the hell needs a machine shop? (Well I do, later, haha)
Lets fast forward a few weeks... Short block assembly is almost done, paint is on and she's looking great.
.
Eventually she ends up looking like this:
Well thats it for that summer... Back up to Ohio for the long, cold winter. Went by like that and I was back to working on my project!
Ready to drop in:
Now here comes the fun. With the money I saved up working 40 hours a week as an apprentice at my father's Hydraulic shop, and the Auto shop, I was able to buy the recipient that was in need of a heart transplant.
Which brings us to my 1983 Camaro Z28. This is a picture from before I even took delivery, and not a whole lot has changed on the exterior. However, Ill try to piece a little list together of whats done to it.
Engine:
1974 350 4-bolt main, 3970010 casting
Steel crank, PM steel rods, forged 9.5:1 pistons, std. bore, double roller timing set, melling high volume/pressure oil pump, mild cam (.440 lift), pocket port and polish, edelbrock performer intake, holley street avenger 670 carb, chrome dress up kit, Jegs high volume mechanical fuel pump, holley 14x3 air filter assembly, flex a lite flex fan, and some other little misc. things.
Transmission:
100% built 700R4
Larger than stock pump, Z pack kevlar clutch kit, kevlar bands, corvette servos, semi auto valve body, billet input shaft, transgo shift kit, TCI overdrive kit, B&M ratchet shifter, etc.
Suspension:
Stock GM 7.5" 10 bolt 3.23 LSD (posi) rear end with factory Z28 suspension package, prothane suspension bushings, new shocks, struts, steering components, etc.
Exhaust:

Those are basically all the mods off the top of my head, and that doesnt include all the stock replacement parts on the car, mechanically nothing was left untouched.
