My 1966 Kaiser M35A2 "deuce and a half" 2.5 ton 6x6 with winch, bone stock and restored. I bought it from the Federal government and drove it home from Warner-Robins AFB in Georgia-1,500 miles at 48 MPH and shaking like a bullet tumbler makes for a long damn trip!

$5,300 for the truck, $800 in fuel to get it home, $1,600 in repair parts and about $100 worth of Krylon OD green, and it's good to go. With an 8x12 foot bed and 10 tires driven by the 465 cubic inch multifuel turbodiesel, it'll carry anything you could want in any weather you can brave!

GVWR is 23,530 pounds, so you don't need a CDL to drive one. It is, however, commercial weight for registration and insurance purposes, so not the cheapest vehicle to have street legal.

The 6x6 operation is automatic via a unique sprague gear set-up in the dual range transfer case. The brake system is air over hydraulic, but steering is 100% manual-hit a rut in this thing, and it'll jerk the nearly 2 foot diameter steering wheel out of your grasp in a hurry.
The passenger cabin is quite stripped down.

So basically, it's uncomfortable, loud, and at about 7 MPG in town, expensive to feed. But it sure is fun!
