In July of 2007, my pretty '97 Montego Blue Mica Miata (Touring Package) came home with me. It took a few months to find her, but I found her nonetheless. I always planned to modify her, it just took me a while to get started... (But now I'm hooked!)
First off, here are a couple pictures from her early days -- The first when she was still at the dealer, the other a picture of the relatively unchanged interior. I've got a polished black Voodoo shift knob now, which was the first thing ever done to her.

After being stock for just over a year while I got used to driving her and learning her quirks, she got her first official mod: Turn Signal Intakes. It was a simple change, yet made a nice difference to the way she looks.

Next came some help from my husband, who graciously helped me out with the expense of getting her a new set of rims and tires. He showed me some Enkei RPF1's a while back, and I sort of fell in love with them. The tires aren't anything special, just normal street tires really since she's daily driven quite a few miles to and from school and work. (Kumho Ecsta AST's at the moment.) The rims are 15x7's in black, and I adore the way they look!

My husband also bought us an early Christmas present - a new suspension! (Installed professionally 12/05/08.) Thanks to Flyin' Miata, she was lowered on a set of their springs with Tokico Illumina shocks, and they also supplied the rear shock mounts. The new bump stops are from Fat Cat Motorsports. Along with Flyin' Miata's recommended alignment, she was nearly a different car in a matter of hours! It was also badly needed, since her old suspension was completely gone by that time...

In between the time it took for the entire suspension to come in and get installed and putting on the rims and tires, she got a Racing Beat cold air intake to go along with her TSI's. (Intake installed 11/13/08, by me.) She was rebadged around the same time, bearing the more JDM "Eunos Roadster" badges instead of "Mazda Miata."

With these goodies, she and I autocrossed for the first time on December 7th, 2008. We ran #37 in CSPLN, and were by no means fast. However, we had a great deal of fun and are very much so looking forward to running next season with some more goodies!

On December 20th, 2008, she got to have her stock exhaust replaced with a cat-back Magnaflow set up. It was just over $400 for the exhaust, and it's got an amazing sound... Rather quiet, but growly when you get on it. I like it a lot, and the tip seemed big to me at first but I think I've gotten used to it. The sound is definitely worth it! This is another installation done by yours truly here.

After the exhaust, I wanted to do a couple things that didn't require too much saving up. While I like getting some of the bigger things out of the way, I also was able to do more on winter break while I could work more. Since the exhaust was also her early Christmas present, I decided to get her a smaller, second Christmas present. This was her set of Momo pedals, which was definitely needed as I had no grip on either my clutch or brake pedals. They also added a nice, racer-ish touch, I think. Earlier this month, I ordered her the Mazda OEM front lip. This added a great accent to the front of the car, as well as being useful due to the directed air flow. Someday I'll add the rear skirt as well.
