rustyfanz's 1989 Ford MustangEXTERIOR:  The exterior of my 89 Mustang LX is in pretty good shape, considering its from 1989.  rustyfanz's 1989 Ford Mustangrustyfanz's 1989 Ford MustangThere are some small paint blemishes and some bumps and small dents but overall everything will buff out or pull out and it will look as good as new as soon as summer gets here.  rustyfanz's 1989 Ford MustangAs you can tell, the top has some holes.  They actually dont really leak because their so small, however the drivers side door does not close all the way and the weather stripping on that side is bad as well so I have it parked for the winter.  When warmer weather comes my way, I already have a new top and have talked to a few people about helping me put it on when the times right.  The bra is no longer on, I took that off almost immediately after these pictures were taken.  Also, I took off the front license plate so it doesnt look as tacky.  Also, when the weather permits, I'm going to tint the tail lights to give it a more stealthy, meaner look.rustyfanz's 1989 Ford Mustang

INTERIOR:  The interior is better than the exterior.  There are some small problems, but nothing a little 'elbow grease' won't cure.  I got lucky and when I got the car from my grandma, in original shape, there was a Pioneer Tuner IIID CD player already installed and wires already ran for 2 more speakers in the back, besides the front two.  The carpet is still in great shape, as well as the seats and consoles.  There are a few broken plastic pieces that a little bit of stratigically placed JB Weld will fix.  The instrument panel will also be getting a major overhaul soon.  rustyfanz's 1989 Ford MustangThe four guages on the outside of the Tac and the Speedometer have not been hooked up ever since we converted it over from EFI to Carb.  However, I will take out the guage cluster, and gently cut out those guages and put in the 3 aftermarket guages.  rustyfanz's 1989 Ford MustangI am in the process of taking out the complete computer system.  I have cut most of the wires already, but I'm planning on taking out all the wires, fuses, and computer consoles that I don't need.

DRIVETRAIN:  The motor I currently have in this beast is out of a 77 Maverick.  I have a Edelbrock 4BBL 600cfm carb sitting high atop an Edelbrock Victor Jr intake.  When we did the motor swap, the Mavericks motor had a front sump pan on it, and since the Mustang is a fox body, I needed to put my chrome double sump pan that I had on.  When we took off the pan, however, we realized that we were going to have to swap the oil pump from the HO motor.  So now whenever I drive it, even after its warmed up, I consistently run at around 35lbs idle, and around 45lbs cruising.  I have headers straight piped back to the mufflers.  As soon as I have the money I'm going to throw a .512/.512 Crane cam and lifters in.  As for the transmission, its a brand new TCI Sizzler out of Summit Racing.  I also have a brand new 2200-2800 stall converter.  I'm not sure what gears are in the rear end, but I am going to put some 3:73's in after I put the cam in.  It does, however, already have Posi and how its set up right now, it will burn the tires off easily.  I will have pictures of the engine shortly.  I don't have any recent pictures and the older pictures don't look as good as it looks now.
