I brought home this 2006 Porsche Cayenne in December, 2008. This SUV is sweet, I purchased it with the remaining Porsche warranty ('til Feb '10) and added a six year, 75K mile transferable extended warranty ('til Dec 2014). Trust me, if you are thinking about any Porsche, the remaining factory and adding an extended warranty is a must! My only suggestion is to add the warranty when you purchase avoiding adding after the fact. You'll spend big $$$ adding on afterwards, the best and cheapest time to add the warranty is at the time of purchase.
Now for some details, I took delivery of this 2006 Cayenne with only 9,100 miles on it. That is some low mileage my friends, from what I learned, the truck was used as an executive vehicle. She came loaded with goodies, navigation, leather, 6-CD changer, bi-xeon headlamps, color crest wheel caps, and 18" turbo wheels.
I spent the past 3 months looking for a Cayenne, deciding on options, price, location, seller status, and year. I had my mind set on an "S" or "Turbo", I really didn't consider a base model until I spoke with a trusted Porsche salesman. According to him, he stated that from a resale perspective, the base is the way to go. The reason is the market for a used base Cayenne, more people from around the world prefer the base over an "S" or "Turbo". An "S" and especially the "Turbo" are not desirable due to the cost of maintenance on that powerful V-8. The V-6 is simply an easier and less expensive engine to maintain, so more resale desirable. However, I drove both an base and a "S" and by far from a power standpoint, the "S" is the winner. The base model is a powerful SUV, however, if you are looking for something to put you in your seat at takeoff, the base model will not do it for you.
Moral of the story, DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!
