So what we have here is an East Coast rust free survivor, rare for any British car in the rust belt,

when I foud her she had been up on blocks for the better part of 15 years, I was offered the the car for trade work............well yeah I jumped

right away there were things that needed to be taken care of, first the front springs were the longer DOT approved for head light height....yeah that sucked, so the lowering springs go in, then the clutch blew apart in a WAWA parking lot,(yeah well when I got the car the clutch was stuck so we held the brake and popped the clutch to break it loose) I knew it would be replaced when it came time to pull the tranny to fix the input bearing, the next short comming was to do something with the whopping 53 HP Federal/US spec engine..............put a turbo on the stock 1500 engine and see what happens,

it is good to have buddys with CNC mills and Mini Sprint experance, did I mention this came about after I was smoked off a light by a mid 80s dork van with a rod knock, yeah that was fun.....

so to the boneyard for a turbo I found a Volvo 940 happy to donate, 11 bucks for the boost and 70 for the rebuild kit, the total conversion was far less than 200.00, did I mention it is good to have buddies who like to barter, with all said and done I have learned much:

the turbo that works on a 2300 cc 4cyl will not spool fast enough for a 1500cc however the power improvement is dramatic

to have a draw though turbo work reliably one will need to fit the turbo they want to use with a carbon seal.................yeah the Mitsu. TD04 was never designed to use this historical piece of enginering, so this set up will  work fo now untill I get the Megasquirt DIY fuel injection up and running, meanwhile I will continue to leave a cloud of blue-gray smoke after being stopped for 60sec at a traffic light,

well this turbo needs to go, the exessive amounts of smog was getting worse............yeah what a surprise, so to the Mega squirt DIY FI I go and a smaller turbo, lo and behold I finde in the local you pull it yard I find an `ol Masarati Bitubo with the turbos in place, the good part is almost no one in the lower Bucks county reigon has a clue what a Masarati (yeah I know I spelled it wrong) is let alone a BiTubo so with some cursing and a battery dremel off it came, meanwhile back at the ranch the FI will not be ready for some time and since I can in NO WAY go back to the single 1.5 Zenith we built another custom manifold and header to use.......wait for it..............ready............4 32mm Kawi. carbs this will keep me amused for the time it takes to make the FI/turbo work like a new model car with a pre WWII derived engine, look for Pix to come

well there ya go 4 Kawasaki carbs. not as cool as the Turbo but better than what the car came with, and the sound through the Dynomax muffler is like going back in time to the early days of SCCA, a really cool set up if I do say so myself, and again this was brought to you by myself, CZracecars and Kinetic MFG

Sweet, that turbo looks great. They make superchargers for Spits but they are quite expensive. I like the turbo better.
