SOUND SYSTEM
I thought the fiber glass soft top covers costed to much. So I built my own cover, with an amp, 2 speakers, and a sub inside. It turned out great. It looks and sounds good. Anyhow check out the pics. The sub is a Kicker and the amp is a Kenwood. Also the mid and highs are TCI's. The inclosure I built was quite interesting. I used 1/2 INCH RMF Board because if I used 3 quarter, I wouldn't have been able to keep the subwoofer underneath the top cover. That was the whole idea, to keep anyone from knowing there was a sub inside... If you look at the pictures below you can get an idea on how I built it. The enclosure was acually three different boxes. Two identical sized boxes on the outsides of the one holding the sub in the middle. Box C or the box on the drivers side was built to hold the amp, but I decided it would be better accessed from the trunk where I located it. Box C was only used then for support of the top cover. I stripped it to reduce the weight a little. Box A or the passenger side box and the center box holding the sub were combined together by a hole that aloud the needed air to be used for the kicker. I put a 1 1/2 inch port in box A like in the pictures. The top cover became a project. It was cut into three pieces held together by metal brackets. I couldn't fit it with out cutting it. I also had to cut the top cover over the sub to give it space for (play) when it hit. After that I covered it with the same grey colored leather that I covered my seats with. It made a little bit of a flapping noise when the speaker hit, so I covered it with carpet (same carpet I recarpeted my car with) and then over that I covered it with my grey leather. I then built a little shelf to hold my two mids and highs located in the front of my enclosure between the seats. The box is held in by screws, and held down by the stlye bar. To me it looks and sounds great and was well worth the time and work. Sorry the pictures I drew don't include the measurements or are a little messy, they are to just give you an idea of what I did. Thanks for reading!!! If you have any questions or are planning to do this or something simular let me know and I'll try to help in any way I can, or at least give you a few tips.
Peace.....
