This is my 1990 Mazda Protege 4wd 1.8L SOHC 16 valve 5 Speed(also refered to as a B8 engine)

Here it is after bein all washed and cleaned up(above)

 

 

 

this is what it looked like when i first bought it... ive done alot of work to make it look better,,, and then unfortuantley crunched the back left fender p anel...

 

 

My car isn't in the best shape but it does good for what it is... since its now a salvage title and not worth anything... even though it drives great, i didn't want to put much money in it since i can't get it back if i sell it.. so my money mostly went to sound system... But for a 1990 it only has 130,000miles on it(i got it with 84,000)

She likes the snow too...amazing traction on slickery surfaces! When i take it drifting it does perfect... it will go out of control enough to be fun, yet i can control the drifts enough to not kill myself. 

 

 

I tried finding performance upgrades but they are almost non-existant for this car... I put on some high performance plug wires, plugs... which probably need changed out again... and a Custom Spectre Cold Air intake.

 Before i had my little crunch accident i was planning on making this lil thing look good...

 

Heres a list of the things i wanted to do with it:

Wheels and tires

Tinted windows

Lowering kit/springs

Stabilizer bars

 

 

 

Ok so here are some newer pictures, yes my car is filthy right now and deperatly calls for a clean up session, but all my clean up stuff is at home, and I'm an hour and a half away at college, so its hard to find the time.

I'll get some better pics of it when it is actually clean and lookin good as soon as i can.

 

Yes... I know... dirty... it will be cleaned...

My cold air intake, and yes the huge ass Mass Airflow sensor is ugly but i don't know how to do without it.

 Ha it was cold out. i was shivering cause i was too dumb to grab my coat, thats why its blurry, but now you can see why my car is a salvage title...(thats why i have'nt put any serious upgrades in it, cause its not worth anything)

Right now I am ordering a glasspack to put on it, since it is straight-piped, and just a lil too loud for everyday highway driving because i cut out the spark arrestor and the muffler.

I got the cherry bomb glasspack and stuck that in there... it now sounds good from the outside, yet nice and quiet on the inside so i can hear what the person next to me is saying lol. its almost to quiet compared to what i'm used to but i've been told that the glasspacks get louder over time so i'll probably just leave it how it is.

 

 

Ok so i absolutley HATE not knowing how high my engine is revving! why make a stick shift and no Tach? sick and wrong... so i decided to fix that. i was just gonna do an aftermarket one, but if i ever sell the car i don't want people thinking all i did was race it around, and i don't like puttin holes in the dash. so after some looking around i discovered that pretty much ever protege besides mine has a freakin tach... i reasearched it and found out that all i need to do is find a diff gauge cluster, so after a trip to the junk yard..(and $35 later) i got one. bad thing is that my milage now reads 180,000 instead of 130,000. but oh well, i know the truth ha.

It doesn't look like much difference but its amazing how much of a difference it is while driving after not having a tach for so long

I wouldn't mind getting the cup holder out of the junk yard car either ha.

I just swapped out my consol for one with the cupholders. i think it looks quite a bit better

Im just focusing on getting some money saved up for a car upgrade... This was the first car i ever bought... 2nd car ive had... parents gave me a 86 buick riviera to start out with... but its hard to save when college sucks the money out of your bank acount...
