I found this car in the summer of 2008 while visiting and old friend who has an Oldsmobile boneyard. I went home and couldn't get this car out of my head. I had previously owned a 61 Olds Starfire and was looking for a 1961 something. So I made a deal for 1500.00 for the car and an additional 500.00 for alot of spare parts including a 74 455/400 Turbo, bucket seats, console, fender, trim , springs, brake drums and what evere else I could think of. I picked up the car on 10-11-08. A really good friend of mine broke in his brand new Featherlite trailer to haul my car home from Redbluff Ca. After gettting the car home I cleaned for a week. It was full of mud dawber nests everywhere. I also noticed the engine turned over. After removing the intake manifold and vacuuming out all the nests, i bolted it back down using the same gasket. I got the points cleaned out, put a battery in it, poured some gas into the intake and got it to pop. So I knew it would probebly run. So I installed a 2 bl carb I had, some used cap and wires, changed the oil and filled the carb full of gas. It fired up and crap flew everywhere. So then I rigged up a gas can until I could get the tank and lines replaced, installed the radiator and the only new parts I spent money on were a carb gasket, 25' of 3/8" full lines and both belts for a cost of less than 80.00. I eventually got a clean tank installed with all new hoses. The car has a factory 3:08 Posi rearend. It also had dual spotlights and an antenna on the back which leads me to believe it had some kind of public service at one time. So I get the engine running really good and it starts better than my Roadrunner, I filled the brakes with fluid and they work. I'm currently ordering all the parts for a complete brake job. The transmission actually works great too. I removed the seats and wire wheeled the floor and used www.rustbullet.com on it with great results. The AM radio still works great also. So on 12-07-08, less than 2 months after pulling it out of the junkyard I drove it to it's first show. I made it there and back without any problem. The car is tired but drivable. It took about 2 weeks to get a title after submitting all the paperwork. I'm going to continue to tinker with it as time and money allows. I just got a set of fender skirts for it off ebay. Happy Motoring! Latest Update 2-23-09 I've been doing alot of work lately. I've installed one of the spot lights, fixed the crossover pipe and got the exhaust quited down, cleaned and painted the wheels, rebuilt the original heater, installed an AHH OHH GAA horn ,got some nice used 225 70-14 tires to replace the rotton rollers and I'm currently replacing the steering box .
