i was at work one night, when the foreman from the other side of the shop's wife came in screaming at him. apparently they were going through a nasty divorce, and i heard her say, "and im gonna make that f**kin motor into a damn boat anchor before this shit is over!!!!" i thought nothing of this and went about my business. later, on my break, i ran into him. he knew i had been in the process of tearing down a 350 for rebuild. what he didn't know was that my budget for the rebuild was only about $1000. he asked me, "hey josh, you wanna skip the build on that engine ,and buy a fresh big block?" i told him " i dont know, how much you want? whats been done to it? how long ago did you have it done?" all the answers were the right ones except the price. "$1500," he said," and that takes the whole truck!" well i had no use for the rest of the full size blazer so i tried to bargain with him. i just wanted the motor. i told him,"how bout you just sell me the motor for 1000 and keep the blazer, i really dont have any use for the rest of it." he told me he'd think about it, and i told him i had to talk to my wife before i did anything. well she's cool, so she told me to go for it, but i could only spend 1200. so i went back to work with an offer. he told me it was a deal, and that he would have rather sell it for whatever i could give him, than let his b*tch soon-to-be-x-wife get it, just so it wouldn't go to waste. so i went and checked it out and gave him the money.the day after i picked it up, he came up and asked me,"did you do anything with that truck yet?'' i told him no. he said"good, i want the body and trans back, what do you want?" i told him $300, knowing the local yard would only give me bout $150. surprisingly, he didn't haggle at all like i excpected him to, and it was a deal. that 4000 mile fresh bbc was mine for only$900!!!!score!!!!
