this is a pic of my helmet. its a 50 yr old family heirloom. my grandfather used to race and wrench on circle track cars. he started in the 50's and quit working on them in the early 80's. well, the helmet stayed in storage until i was a teen. in my teen years, i used to ride atvs for a hobby, and my grandma wante me to to protect my head. so she had my grandpa give me his crusty old white racing helmet. at the time i thought it was grossand old, but i wore it. when i turned 17, I quit riding(thats a whole nother story), and I gave the helmet back to my grandma/pa, so my cousins could use it for their go kart.
well eventually, the go kart broke, and the helmet went back into storage. when my grandparents found out i was racing, thay asked me if i was being safe (yeah, they gave me the racing talk. instead of the birds and the bees, it was the cam and the lifters). i told them that i didn't really have any safety requirements in my class. they told me that i should take the helmet back, if nothing else, for good luck. I told them I would wair it.
well they were right, as soon as i started wairing it, i started winning more often. but it wasn't really my helmet, i need to give it my own touch. so i gave it to my friend jon who is an artist, andi told him to give it a paint job that reflected me and the car. he always had this take that betty was like the modern version of the 55' from two lane blacktop, so he did this whole thing wit hthe highway. and i love it. so here's some pics of the out come.
