My 1964 Buick Skylark has been modified by installing a recently rebuilt Chevy Big Block 396 V8, with an aftermarket high performance camshaft, Weiland Action Plus Intake Manifold and a Holly 4 barrel 770 street advenger carburetor.(installed by the Corvette Shop on Topanga Cyn Blvd in Canoga Park, Ca.) The factory automatic transmission was replaced with a Muncie close ratio 4 speed. The rear end has 4:10 posi-traction gears. I’ve added both front and back sway bars to improve handling. New factory GM power steering and disc brakes were added by REBS Specialties in Reseda Ca. Mechanical dash sensors were converted to electronic units while still keeping the dash lights operational. REBS Specialties also did that work. Gauges are Autometer Cobalt series with a shift light on the tacometer. To finish it off a custom Dual exhaust system and old school centerline racing rims were installed. Lastly, a new paint job (original factory color) and a new factory type Interior has been installed.
03.10.09 REBS Specialties installed new valve covers, spark plug rails, re wired the engine compartment, created an x-pipe for the rear dual exhaust, installed a weather stripping package.
More importantly, REBS installed custom short pipe headers as there is little room in the engine compartment due to the engine upgrade.
I would highly recommend REBS (818-345-7040) Brian Kardell, for any one with a hot rod in socal. They are great honest people to work with!!
Truly a flash from the past! Work is still in progress and updates to follow. I would love to chat with anyone owning a 64/65 Skylark
