Before:

I bought the wheels and the car came with them.  When I found this car it was headed to a junk yard, and I was looking for a platform to build MPG tests out of so it seemed to be the perfect fit.

The interior wasn't too bad minus the fact it smelt like an old smokers car, but that will be fixed after the all new interior is installed.

The dirty bay and the stick hood prop.

This was taken the first real driving day in October 2008, it overheated 5 times!

The battery cables were trashed, so to get it to turn I installed a ground kit.

The intake system was a disaster and full of mud and leaves, so I installed a cold air pipe into some aircraft tubing to make it effective.  Remember this is all in the before section!

I had to tear up the interior to run wires to the front cooling fans due to a failing sensor.

The valve seals were rotten and the engine was spitting tuns of oil so I ran a catch can to keep it out of the cylinders the best I could.

How are the MPG improvements going ? Have you made progress? What have you done? I have an 88 mr2(original owner) that I would like to restore to a high MPG vehicle
