New pics on page two, three and four!

The car got painted on October 24,2008            The pic on right is an internet pic of what my car

looked like when I started with her! Boxy sedan!

This is where I'm at so far. The bumpers are getting coated urathane black. This will have the look of a 1978 Volare SuperCoupe from the front end.

This car started out as my wife's grandfathers' baby blue 1979 LeBaron Medallion sedan. It had crushed velour baby blue bench seat interior and a blue landau vinyl roof with a wide metal band over the roof. That was removed and all the holes mig welded in and smoothed out. No rust on the car and the doors forward were donated from a 1978 Volare. Because the M-body LeBaron and the F-body Volare share the same platform, everything from just behind the front seats forward match up. All the sheet metal lines right up and the mounting points were identical. This car now looks like it never had a vinyl top. The factory even put that vinyl on the top edge of the trunk lid!

Cop car 15x7 wheels painted argent and added the center caps and trim rings to mimic the Volare SuperCoupe wheels. The trim around all the windows will be blacked out as well as the door handles and factory sport dual mirrors.

Even though a LeBaron was never offered with an automatic on the floor, the sheetmetal was stamped to accomodate it just like the Volare was, so it was a direct bolt in.

The tailights are 1978 LeBaron because they are a smooth flat lense instead of the 3 box style of the 1979 taillight. They just look more muscle car and less luxury car. The surround trim has been painted flat black and the rear bumper will be flat black also.

1978 only Volare "Spectrum" or "Sunrise" interior will complement the Spitfire Orange paint. The door panels also match these seats with the color combination. Factory AM/FM/CB in-dash radio works better than a fuzzbuster! The truckers always know where the cops are.

**This pic is of Private Leonard (Gomer Pyle) Lawrence, it's not me!** He was played by actor Vincent D'onofrio in the movie, "Full Metal Jacket" where the recruits recited the famous line below. Each time they said the word gun, I changed it to car and changed shoot for drive and kill to beat for purposes here.

MBFE1979's 1979 Chrysler LeBaron"This is my car. There are many like it but this one is mine. My car is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my car is useless. Without my car, I am useless. I must drive my car true. I must drive straighter than my enemy, who is trying to beat me. I must beat him before he beats me. I will. Before God I swear this creed: my car and myself are defenders of my country, we are the masters of our enemy, we are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but peace. Long live Mopar. Amen!"
