5/11/09: Update My old time local mechanic called today, things are slow in the shop , you can finally bring the Hornet in for the front end work you asked about a month or so ago, has room in the garage so she won't be parked outside where the vandals run around, made my day!! Dropped her off with new tie rods, bushings (control arms/struts), springs , front disc hoses, universial joints and such in a box. I've been driving it a few miles practically everyday to work on rough streets, she was starting to tell me that "I'm tired & something's not right & tight in the front". That's how I lost my '76; into a guardrail, busted tie rod; but I was too young to feel the warning signs back in '82 and did not want to make the same mistake twice! I was going to do the work myself, but was intimidated when I saw the original rivets on the ball joints, have no garage to leave it apart in case I ran into problems. I'm really going to miss driving her for the next 2-? days, but I can't wait to get her back nice and tight so I'm not afraid to drive it; can anyone say, "ROAD TRIP"(off of S.I.)!!! :-) 5/28/09 Update, Verrezzano Bridge Oh Happy Day, rally's are newly skined and finally on the car, what a difference, 8 times more a day compliments, even though she's still rough original. Warm weather's here, can start getting back to the body work and hopefully get it painted (E-9 Mellow Yellow) & rally striped (orange) by the end of 7/09. With the recent front end rebuild & those new tires, my car handles better & throttle punches never sounded so loud; must be that couple of inchs of tread! I know all you AMC guys are going to say, "but those are'nt the original trim rings", I know that, but they were buy it now cheap on Ebay & since this is going to be my "custom" H/B X, looks "dare" to be different to me. Also, put a set of star directs in the front grill & swapped out the 74 tail lights to 76's, I like the additional separation on those.
