1985 Yamaha 50cc

I got this a year ago. Actually, It was thrown in the back of my dad's truck which I as borrowing to pick up a 3 wheeler I bought. My friend who sold me the three wheeler had gotten tired of fighting with it and decided to be rid of it. I said I'd take it if he didn't want it, and there it was. Dirty cream colored fenders, a busted gauge cluster, rusted up chrome, split tires, parts laying in the truck beside it and a dead engine. It sat for ten months when I decided to have a look at it. It hadn't been driven since 2000, and I assumed it needed new rings. I took the jug off and the rings looked fine. Then I realized I couldn't find the exhaust outlet in the jug. It was plugged with a large peice of carbon the size of the downpipe itself. I chiseled this out, and it started up and ran beautifully. I spent the next month shining, installing Honda parts to replace the broken Yamaha ones, and It's ran for 200 miles since without a problem. It gets 100-120 mpg and outruns my friend's 2007 Rocketta Maui 50 hands down. Besides, it's so much fun to drive.

PLANS:
So, this summer I'm going to drop the engine and rebuild it with new seals, rings, and carb components. In this time the body will be repainted black and another coat will be applied to the fenders. The exhaust pipe and block might be repainted black with heat resistant paint, and the kickstarter and gauge cluster will be replaced. I'll probably also add red wire casing. New rear brake pads and a reroute through the body for the brake cable are also in my immediate plans. I love this bike b/c it's so cheap to restore!
