My '79 El Tigre/Pantera Crossbreed.  Torquey engine from a Pantera, Oversized runners and suspension from a Pantera, brand new track on the lighter more agile El Tigre Chassis, in progress of converting the Pantera engine to run twin carbs.  My sister's Skidoo with it's new paint in the background.

Hi! My name is Dave and thanks for stopping by my page. I got this car in August 2008, all stock. The driver front door was smashed, the passenger rear door was rusted out from the inside out, the rear right quarter panel was rusted through, and 90 percent of the paint had clearcoat failure, turning it dull and rough. I started by building an entry-level sound system, and added red grilles. I liked the theme, and headed onward and upward. Unfortunately, I don't have much money, so I have less than 2000 dollars into the car over all INCLUDING THE PURCHASE PRICE. This is the ultimate budget show-build, so ask questions, leave comments, and enjoy. Currently, she's on her way to becoming an autocross-worthy car. I got this a year ago.  Actually, It was thrown in the back of my dad's truck which I as borrowing to pick up a 3 wheeler I bought.  My friend who sold me the three wheeler had gotten tired of fighting with it and decided to be rid of it.  I said I'd take it if he didn't want it, and there it was.  Dirty cream colored fenders, a busted gauge cluster, rusted up chrome, split tires, parts laying in the truck beside it and a dead engine.  It sat for ten months when I decided to have a look at it.  It hadn't been driven since 2000, and I assumed it needed new rings.  I took the jug off and the rings looked fine.  Then I realized I couldn't find the exhaust outlet in the jug.  It was plugged with a large peice of carbon the size of the downpipe itself.  I chiseled this out, and it started up and ran beautifully.  I spent the next month shining, installing Honda parts to replace the broken Yamaha ones, and It's ran for 200 miles since without a problem.  It gets 100-120 mpg and outruns my friend's 2007 Rocketta Maui 50 hands down.  Besides, it's so much fun to drive.

- -DIY Turbo Kit(or a 2.4L swap...Few Years Away yet)

For a good reference on how to do a DIY turbo, Project Car Mag did a good write-up on it based on a Honda D16 sporting an Eclipse Turbo from a junkyard.  Their D16 Had 300,000 miles on it.  I think if the day comes to do a major upgrade on this engine, and I can't afford a 2.4 I will do a home turbo setup.  I can probably use the basic setup from the sunbird Turbo, and run it on 8 or 10 pounds boost(higher running track times).  It should work out all right, and provide enough to put the Sunfire down into the low 14's.      _______________________________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________  OLD PIX

She Survived her first winter with the new paint and gfx!  LED Underglow

When I had just got it plated, insured, and put in a new door to replace the smashed one.  Never got any stock pix of the motor or interior.  The interior I have close-to-stock pix of only the stereo and neon installed, the motor I never photographed because the hood release was broken when I got it, so it was hard to open the hood.  That has(fortunately) been fixed.

The teardown and rebuild of the interior went well over spring break, The most prominent repair made was the rusty old seat frames being removed, the carpet being steam-cleaned, and everything being put back together like new. There's nothing quite like finding unrecognizable objects in a Mickey-D's wrapper that you didn't put there...and the people you bought the car from didn't put it there either.

My Cobra Sitting on the ceiling. Picks up radar nicely-I don't speed much, but it's nice to know when I'm being watched. It's running off the same power source as my auto-adjusting mirror.  Winter 2009 Detailing job-Front and back, not a spot of dirt. Crappy pix tho, sorry.

In the glovebox lives a mini-amp/balancer combo that runs the front 4X6's. Alongside it is a bass remote for the Legacy amp in the trunk(Removed Feb. 2010 with new digitally controlled amp install). I just sleeved all the amp wiring, really cleaning it up. The U.V. Reactive sleeving looks great with the blacklight I have as my trunk light. Also, the 12" and 2X7" sub box I built, running off another amp/balancer combo.

New 4X6"s in the doors! Sony 4-way 140W max Xplods...Got a good deal on them too, at 30 bucks. They were a simple instal, I'm only disappointed that they are door speakers, cuz they go so well with the red and black interior.   __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________  Engine: Performance as Money Allows

What else can be said? It's an improvement. The chrome lip and accent lines look good in the sun, and anyway, I can't afford Enkei 20"s. Honestly, the biggest I plan on going when I get more money is 16". The rims I got for 35 bucks a peice, and they look great, and the tires I got for 50 for the set, practically new. The brakes add a nice subtle accent, and they were ugly factory grey. The car came with brand new brakes and lines, so I'm set there for a while. Pontiac Until The End...See you on the Streets!
