Page 3: How to LED installation

My Leds came in. But I messed up when I placed the order. I forgot to order 2 more 212-2 bulbs.  So here is Exactly what you need if you want to do an LED conversion in the car. You can order the LEDs from superlumination.com. They do accept Pay Pal or Credit Card.

212-2 The doors 9LED SMT $9.99 each. You need (4) of them

194 Courtesy REAR DOORS 9 LED SMT Tower 2 $9.99 each. You need (2) of them.

194 Map lights SMT Tower  $8.99 each. You need (2) of them. Its a very tight space to fit. Trust me.

Its about $85 grand total after shipping of course.

You need latex gloves in order to remove the bulbs if they are hot. In this case, my bulbs were hot. I still did burn my fingers but not as bad as it would have been had I not had latex gloves.

Courtesy bulbs in the passanger side.

Take a flat tipped screw driver and pry gently on the side. It should pop right out.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

You'll see a metal piece. It should fall right out.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

The bulb is still intact.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

Gently pull the bulb towards you. It may or may not be hot. In my case, it was hot.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

This is what you are left with after the bulb is removed.

Insert metal piece back in first. Why? Becaus the metal piece will not fit overtop of the new Led.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

Here is a picture of the bulb right before installtion. Its a 194 SMT Tower 2 9 LED $9.99 superlumination.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

Make sure to install metal piece first. I didn't do that in this case.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

Reinstall lens cover. Pretty bright huh??

Repeat same process for the other side.

Next we move into the bulbs on the door panels.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

Use a flat tipped screw driver and GENTLY pry the side off. There are little tabs on each side. These are very prone to break so becareful.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

The lens cover is now removed.

212-2 9LED SMT. 44mm. $9.99 each. superlumination.com

factory bulb removed looking at the light housing.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

44mm LED bulb is not a perfect fit. Look on the left side of the bulb. It gets great contact by the way.

Install lens cover. I'll take a picture of the led outside next time.

Now we will move to the dreaded map lights. This will take some time.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

On the back side of the map  information center facing the driver mirror there is a little hole with a screw in it. Remove screw. Its a phillps head by the way.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

Becareful not to lose this.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

Here is a picture of the bulb. 194 SMT Tower $8.99 each You need (2) of them Superlumination.com

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

Place your hand on each side of the information center near the cargo lights and pull hard. You may hear a popping sound. The entire unit should fall.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

That cconnector thing that I'm pointing to make sure pull that towards you off that chrome housing underneath. Why? Just incase you drop the led bulb inside the lens. You need to some more room to tilt the housing upsidedown in order to retieve the bulb.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

See the chome housing underneath that connector that I'm pointing to. Thats what I'm talking about underneath the connector.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

I already installed the Led bulbs before I took the pictures. But here is how to remove the old bulb. Take a flap tipped screw driver and there are 2 clips on each side of the bulb. Pop them gently and the bulb and connector will come out of the housing.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

Bulb removed.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

There is a problem. The led bulb will not fit through the housing. What you have to do is take the connector and almost put it back in the housing. Take the Led and place it tail first through the housing. Then connect it to the connector.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

Its not a perfect fit. You kind of have to tilt the bulb downwards to make it fit.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

Dam they are bright!!

Now for some pictures.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

I should have removed my junk before I took this picture.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

I still need to order 2 more bulbs for the back doors as you can see.
