Page 2: The Interior

I would like to add a wood grain kit in the future. It just looks boring with the black center console trim piece. I'm not going to wood the entire car out but just a couple of pieces.

I just cleaned the interior. It wasn't that bad. I used a waterbased interior dressing on the dash, door panels, and center console. This is the same dressing I used on the engine bay.

4/19/2009 Wood trim kit arrives.

Here are some pictures below of the all weather dodge floor mats. I also installed the redneck cupholder since I couldn't find a factory arm rest with cup holders in tan at my local junkyards.

While at my local junkyard looking for my wrecked taurus I decided to take a look at the 300Ms to see if there were any new ones in stock. I came across this chrome shift knob and I know some people will pay over $200 for an excellant one.  I bought this chrome shift knob for $10.60. No lie I have proof below. I would give it about a 7 out of 10. The chrome is scuffed/ scratched and there is some wear marks on the leather. Don't worry, I cleaned it up with soap and water and applied some leather conditioner to it. It looks much better but again, its not perfect. It went from a 7 to an 8.5 in about 10 minutes of cleaning it. It sat in the junkyard from Feb 2009 until now.

Those are scuff marks at thew bottom of the chrome piece.

Here is just a close up of it.

Now to install it, you need a metic Alan wrench to remove the  alan head. Turn the key on and put the car in netural with the E-Brake on.

You can get a set of alan wrenches at Sears.

After loosening the screw up, lift the shift knob out of the pole.

Push new shift knob all the way down. Before tightening the screw, attempt to put the car in park. If it does not go into park then the shift knob is not all the way down. Push it down then. It should go into park then. The shift knob is still dirty in this picture.

The chrome looks a lot better know after I gave it a cleaning. You can see my reflection in it.

All cleaned up.

You can still see the scuff marks. But for $10.60 I'm not complaining at all.

I picked these up for free at my local junkyard since I bought 2 sets of taillightsAll I did was clean them up and install them. Thoes power window panels are bitch to get off with out scratching or breaking something in the process.

I installed the woodtrim kit. That was a pain in the ass to do.

This is my favorite shot out of all the pictures. I think the chrome shift knob and so called chrome power window switches complement the fake woodtrim quite well. The pictures on the wood dash experts do not do justice. Not all of the piece line up exactly so you will have to get it as close as possible. The kit comes with 3 alcohol prep pads. But since the kit sat inside the box for almost 2 months the alcohol pads dried up. Purchase a bottle of isopropyl alcohol or better known as rubbing alcohol at Wal-Mart or any drug store. If you can, try to get someone that has installed trim kits before because this like I said is a pain in the ass to do. I ended up removing the floor console, radio trim piece, and the center AC vents for easier installation of the wood trim.

The floor shifter piece is a little bit off. But I tried my best to line it up as best as I could.

I didn't think that I would like the wood rings around the vents but they look alright. I know its not centered. The problem is that the wood trim ring was not cut exactly to fit the vent so I did my best on it.

Yes is this a little crooked but its kind of hard working at an angle.

Tundraman10's 1999 Chrysler 300M

This was the hardest piece to install because of the odd shape. I ended up taking the wood trim piece off the AC thing several times to line it up. The problem is that it lost its adhesion quickly. I used some plastic glue but that somewhat worked.

You can see where I applied the glue trying to get it hold.
