Baxter's Lada Niva (aka AvtoVaz 2121)
A what?
A Lada Niva is a compact all-terrain vehicle. Designed and built in Soviet Russia to withstand the extremes in climate and terrain means these vehicles can handle almost any conditions. With full-time four wheel drive, independent front suspension, coil springs all round and monocoque body construction - all back in 1977.
In Late 1991 the leaders of the former USSR republics issued a declaration that the Soviet Union was dissolved. Only a year before my Lada Niva rolled off the production lines of the largest car factory on the planet.
Sadly I didn't get it until sometime well into the 21st Century...
After a bit of fettling when I first got it:
It has a Weber swap and a 50mm suspension lift .
I have a lot of handy tips and information about maintaining and modifying Nivas at my including a newbies guide : http://www.ladaniva.co.uk/baxter
After I lifted it:
