Here are pics of the subwoofer enclosure that I built. Many thanks to Rick http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2328523 for the step by step instructions on how to fiberglass. It is an 8" Kicker L7 sub with a Kicker ZX400 amp. This was my first time at fiberglass and it did take a while but was a lot of fun (aside from the smell). I finished the enclosure with vinyl as it matches very nicely and I was sick of sanding. I went with this set-up because the kicker L7 Series is Awesome and also these amps come with a bass control knob. So when need be I can turn the sub right off. The amp is installed under the drivers set which is perfect as it is out of the way. I wanted to put it under the rear seats but they actually flatten down to the floor when they are pushed forward. I did have it professionally installed as I did not want any issues as the car is brand new. I have the navigation system so everything else is stock. Now the important part; How does it sound??????
It sounds great!!! Even the professional installer laughed when we first turned it on because of how loud it is. I'm not saying that my windows will fall out or anything like that but it is pretty impressive how a tiny sub can perform. I originally wanted to make the enclosure as small as possible (like Rick's) but once I calculated the minimum airspace needed for the sub, I knew that it would have to be a little bigger.
