Wassup to all you Maxima enthusiasts. Hey, here is my story. I really love my 1989 Nisasan Maxima SE. I've always been impressed with the style and look of the Maxima. They're like bulls. They're real quiet... but dont piss them off... vrrrrrrrrrrrrmmmmm!!!!!!!!! I don't have much $"cha-ching"$, so my mods are done on a budget. I look for sales. As a result the transformation I seek will happen slow. Real slow, but look for updates. Any advice is more than welcome and greatly appreciated so please sign my GUESTBOOK, and just let me tell y'all that I really enjoy lookin at all your kool rides. :)

This is basicly how my baby looked when I fisrt bought her.

Frequently Asked Questions on Aesthetics
Q: What kind of spoilers can I fit on the Maxima?
A: Universal spoilers will fit the unique shape of the trunk. Many choices include touring wings, stock spoilers, as well as many other various styles of spoilers. It all depends on personal choice.
Q: Where are the red-clear taillights purchased from?
A: Red-clear taillights can be made custom on 97-99 models, but cannot be fabricated for 95-96 models. One must purchase all clear tails and paint the inside bottom half red for 95-96 years. For 97-99, they can also be bought from other fellow owners or from custommaxima.com.
Q: How do I make the corner lights of a 97-99 Maxima brighter?
A: Use 5/22W bulbs, as it runs at a cooler temperature when rewiring (constantly using the 22W filament), as opposed to stock 8/28W bulbs, since 28W will be hotter than 22W. Any bulb greater than 28W is not recommended, as wires may begin to melt.
Q: How do I securely install my body kit?
A: Double sided tape might be ok for dry climates, but to ensure security, screws should be used. The front lip should be screwed at the ends inside the fender, while the side skirts should screw directly to the body of the car. The rear pieces should be screwed from under the car as well. Double sided tape should be used to re-enforce the installation.
Q: How do I clean the car most efficiently?
A: Clay bars should initially be used to clean the dirt, then wax should be used to protect the paint and polish the car.
Q: Is the touch up paint from Nissan a good solution to my paint chips?
A: No, as it will only make the problem worse. Discoloration can easily be detected.
Q: Can aftermarket seats fit in the Maxima?
A: Yes, as long as proper brackets are provided. Big name companies such as Sparco provide seats for the Maxima.

Engine/Transmission/Y-Pipe/Intake/Underdrive Pulley/Supercharger/Exhaust/Fly Wheel/Short Throw Sfifter/Mevi/ECU Upgrade...
Y-pipe
Function: This large-diameter high-performance race pipe significantly reduces backpressure, eliminating two smaller catalytic converters. This allows the engine to realize its full performance potential, therefore providing dramatically increased responsiveness throughout the engine's dynamic operating range.
Gains: 18 WHP, 28 WT
Intake
Function: The first step in upgrading the car's performance is to replace the restrictive stock air box with a high flow intake. Additional air flow increases the engine's efficiency and power output by increasing the quantity of the air/fuel ratio. It consists of a precision machined ring and a gauze element (cleanable) filter. Like a velocity stack, the ring uses the venturi effect to accelerate air intake speed. Power and throttle response will improve throughout the entire RPM range. As well, a mid pipe may be added to remove restrictive factory resonators. This will provide a greater gain in horsepower, as the flow of air will be smoother. Another option is to add a cold-air extension, where colder air outside the engine can be inducted.
Gains: 10-12 WHP, 7-8 WTQ
Underdrive Pulley
Function: This pulley is made of lightweight Premium U.S. made 6061-T6 billet aluminum to ensure consistency of the material's strength and balance. It replaces the factory pulley that runs the power steering and alternator with a lighter and larger pulley. The bigger the radius, the less rotation needed to do the same job, thus freeing up energy for other components of the car. Also, because of the weight savings, the inertia needed to spin the pulley will be much less, and the car will rev up faster.
Gains: 5-12 WHP, 4-8 WTQ (naturally aspirated)
8-16 WHP, 8-18 WTQ (forced induction)
Supercharger
Function: The Maxima Supercharger kit is complete and consists of a vane type supercharger, engine mounting bracket, new drive belt, intake plumbing, air cleaner, additional fuel management module, pump and wiring, relocation hardware for the windshield washer reservoir and more. A supercharger basically uses the exhaust gases from the engine to power its turbine. This turbine then inducts air into the engine at a greater rate, allowing for an increase in power.
Gains: 68 WHP, 44 WTQ
Exhaust
Function: A "cat-back" replaces the factory mid-pipe, b-pipe, and muffler to allow for better air flow by removing unnecessary resonators. Although there is an increase in noise due to this, an increase power is achieved.
Gains: 5-10 WHP, 3-5 WTQ
Flywheel
Function: With reduced weight (just 7lbs.), less power is needed to overcome flywheel inertia. The stock flywheel is essentially the automatic's torque converter plate with weights added and is not ideally suited for performance applications.
Gains: Quicker revving motor, assists in faster acceleration.
Short-Throw Shifter
Function: Smooth, positive shifting with a greatly reduced throw is realized with a Short Throw Shifter. This allows for more precise and faster shifting.
Gains: Quicker acceleration.
MEVI: Middle-East Variable Intake
Function: This variable intake replaces the stock intake manifold. During higher RPM's (revolutions per minute), the variable intake switches from longer intake runners, to shorter runners. This allows faster induction of air to the engine, increasing power greatly beyond the 5000 RPM range.
Gains: 40-50 WHP, 20-30 WTQ (@ 6500 RPM)
ECU Upgrade
Function: Remaps the stock fuel program, thus allowing the car to run more efficiently and leaner up in the mid to top end RPM's. The upgrade also will raise the rev limiter and eliminate the speed limiter in some cases.
Gains: 12-15 WHP
Suspension/Braking/Adjustable Camber Bars/Front Strut /Tower Bar/Rear Sway/Bar /Shocks//Springs /Big Brake Kit/Replacement Rotors /SS Brake Lines/Brake Pads /Adjustable Camber Plates...
Function: Adjustable Camber Plates allow you to set your camber to specific settings. In most high-performance driving situations, 1 to 2 degrees of negative camber is desirable to maintain a wide tire footprint as one proceeds through the corners. For autocross or other competitive use, the wider the footprint, the higher the G-forces the car can pull while cornering. Once installed, camber adjustments can be made form under the hood, without disassembling the suspension.
Gains: Greatly corning ability at higher speeds.
Front Strut Tower Bar
Function: Improves driving feel and eliminates vague handling under cornering and braking loads. This mounts on top of the two front struts in the engine bay.
Gains: Improves car's rigidity, allowing for better handling and cornering.
Rear Sway Bar
Function: The 95-02 Maxima/I30/I35 use a unique rear suspension system. It produces awful body roll in aggressive cornering. This sway bar counters the roll and flattens out the car.
Gains: Improves car's rigidity, allowing for better handling and cornering
Shocks / Springs
Function: Better performance shocks allow for greater durability when coupled with lowering springs. This is because they are designed to handle more abuse. The shocks also have a stiffness adjustability, which can increase the car's handling greatly.
Gains: Improved cornering and handling.
Big-Brake Kit
Function: Larger diameter wheels are needed to accommodate the larger rotors and calipers. This kit utilizes an AP Racing 4 piston caliper and a two piece slotted and drilled and cadmium plated rotor. It replaces the factory brake discs, calipers and pads.
Gains: Improved stopping power, therefore, can stop in even shorter distances than replacement rotors - excellent for safety as well as performance.
Replacement Rotors
Function: They offer maximum performance with stock calipers. Computer Aided Design (CAD) is employed to determine the optimum pattern for any size rotor. This pattern is critical, for it must correctly sweep the brake pad to increase its initial bite and allow for out gassing while also cleaning the entire brake pad surface. The sweep will eliminate hot spots and maximize the brake pad friction to the rotor. The added air surface, created by cross drilling, will increase the rotors ability to dissipate heat and cool more effectively. Slotted rotors offer an alternative to cross drilling. Both slotted and cross drilled rotors offer advantages over stock rotors. Cross drilled offer a better initial bit and braking, slotted are more resistant to high thermal loading. Like the cross drilled rotors, CAD is used for optimizing the slot pattern.
Gains: Improved stopping power, therefore, can stop in shorter distances. Good for safety as well as performance.
Cross Drilled/Slotted/SS Brake Lines...
Function: Stainless Steel Brake Lines. Each time pressure is applied to the brake pedal to slow the car, some of the hydraulic energy is wasted expanding the stock rubber brake lines. Effective braking power is therefore decreased. This is also the cause of the soft feel some cars exhibit at the brake pedal. As the lines age, the softness increases. This line swell can be eliminated or greatly reduced with the use of high quality stainless steel brake lines. When combined with cross drilled rotors, high performance brake pads and high quality brake fluid, the difference in stopping power and brake feel is impressive. These lines are stainless steel braided, Teflon brake lines.
Gains: Improved stopping power, therefore, can stop in shorter distances. Good for safety as well as performance.
Brake Pads
Function: Performance-oriented brake pads were developed to give a superior alternative to stock friction materials. Composite brake pads have a higher friction coefficient than original equipment brake pads to grip rotors more aggressively. They also operate more effectively at higher heat ranges to reduce brake fade. The pad composition has no material harder than the rotor itself, thus ensuring long rotor life. Longer brake life with these brake pads result when compared to stock. Low levels of brake dust are also achieved.
Gains: Improved stopping power, therefore, can stop in shorter distances. Good for safety as well as performance.

Aesthetics/Aero Kits /Dash Kits /Carbon Fibre Hood/ Wheels/Spoilers/Aero Kits...
These various kits are intended to increase aerodynamics, but primarily and drastically improve the looks of the car. They allow for complete individualizing of the car, adding to a unique look that no one else has.
Dash Kits
Dash kits add life to the dash of the car, and improve the looks greatly. Current choices include brushed aluminum, wood grain, and carbon fiber
Carbon Fiber Hood
A hood made out of carbon fiber is just as strong as steel, but significantly lighter. Weight reduction in any area is great for performance; however, this modification also adds a unique touch to the car.
Wheels
Careful selection of wheels can improve the looks of the car completely. As well, the lighter the selection of wheel, the better the car will accelerate. This is due to the rotational mass needed to be overcome by the engine - a smaller diameter wheel will always be easier to spin than a larger diameter.
Spoilers
There are various choices of spoilers, including factory spoilers, carbon fiber, aluminum, and more wild designs made from urethane. Depending on the choice, it can improve or degrade the look of the car.
