The 1976 Mustang Cobra II Interior

Its modern interior layout was innovative and underappreciated in its day.  Compare it to one of the comparable models in its class for imports or domestic models and you will see why the II outsold them many times over.  With its lightweight size and solid motor combination, its very much a fun car to drive.  While I have personally driven a number of performance cars, without exception its is my favorite car I have ever owned & driven.  Unless you've had one you would not appreciate the experience.

Here are the driver's side interior views.  Note premium interior options such as the clock, brushed aluminum cobra interior, cobra door panels, seats, floor mats, stallion badging sport steering wheel, interior lighting package with underdash entry and door lighting, and full length console. The driver enjoys a fully eqipped gauge cluster and controlls for intermittent windshield wipers.  Additionally there is an oil pressure gauge mounted under the dash next to the Nitrous button and scanner.

When you get into the other seats, we have new like originally equipped upholstery and insulated ultra plush carpet all around.  A new headliner and seat belt covers make it warm and inviting.  The car has a removable sunroof and chrome map light options as well as lighting inside the glove box. The contrast of the bushed aluminum highlights with black make a dramatic and bold statement.  The car has the factory AM/FM radio in the car, but we are finding time to install the premium factory AM/FM/8 track which we have acquired.  For fun, he also have a Bearcar police scanner mounted under the glove box.  We have under the passenger seat a non intrusively mounted CB radio that hooks on the knob for the glove box door.  The car has a Ford style antenna that makes it hard to tell that this communication's feature is installed in the car.  More pictures on those later on since I know you will want to see it.

The cargo area is reasonable with plenty of room for a nitrous oxide tank, pioneer speakers, and factory safety equipment like spare tire, jack, and lug nut wrench, and of course factory fold down seats.  And you have the pop open rear quarter windows with louvers on sides and rear for shade and privacy.  Its a very clean modern look very uncommon in cars from the 1970s.  The car has new rubber seals here in the cargo area, as well as throughout the entire car.

One thing ineresting to the Mustang II is a rare interior package option where a black engine turned finish with small uniform, circular patterns were made on the driver and passenger side dash panels.  In person I have only seen one other car that was produced with this option, and this was years ago when I saw one in a wrecking yard.   At the time, I blew it off  passing it by as an aftermarket item rather than actual option from the factory.  I have since learned my lesson and understand what it was.  I recently found a set of these rare panels configured for my car, and as soon as it is installed, there will be a set of photos showing these items in the car.  I can't wait to see it.
