Welcome to the page for Ernie and Char Dyck’s 1956 ford Fairlane. I am putting this car on here for my girlfriend’s mom. The car you are looking at on these pages is an unrestored original (it has never been restored, repainted or reupholstered). The way you see it here is the way it came from the factory. The Fairlane was purchased on April 13, 1956 at HomeTown Ford in Winkler Manitoba, by Ben Bueckert (Char’s grandfather). The original bill of sale is number 5 (It is thought to be the 5th car sold out of Hometown. The car was then sold to Char’s father Jim Bueckert. Jim then traded in the Fairlane back to HomeTown Ford where it was originally purchased! One thing to note is the car was never driven in the rain since new! Though it was the family car if it was raining they would not go out. Also in the summer, if it was in the sun, Char’s father would go out and move it in to the shade. People would ask, “where is Jim?” the response was he is outside moving the car.
The owners of the HomeTown Ford dealer collect cars and have a shed full of classics. The Fairlane never left the dealership. They put the car into the private collection where it sat for about 20 years in storage.
In May of 2006 on Mother’s Day, Char was talking on the phone with one of her good friends, when she saw a certain 1956 Fairlane coming up their drive way and told her friend that she had to go. What had happened was that Ernie had purchased the ‘56 for Char as a Mother’s Day gift! After sitting in storage the car finally saw the light of day for the first time in approximately 20 years.
