 200sx s14a project!

fritzkrackers's 1997 Nissan 200SX

WELCOME!

im documenting my 200sx build, as much for myself as anything else. feel free to comment as you wish below. please don't give me the "sweet ride, 5*, rate my blah de blah", the car's not finished!!! it's it bits!!!. your opinion, good or bad, matters. if you have a more performance orientated ride (and by that i mean modded with a greater emphasis on speed/handling) drop me a line. the more unusual the better! thanks!

1997 Nissan 200sx s14a. As it looked when i bought it in...erm.... August 2007 i think. Shame on me! It hasn't seen a public road since!

The car was close to standard when i bought it apart from K&N filter, Apex (UK tuner, NOT A'PEXi) S/Steel cat' back exhaust, standard size replacement grooved Brembo discs (front) and budget lowering kit. The front wings are FRP replacemants and add approx 20mm to each front arch. The wheels are proper 17" Enkei racing wheels and not the ones the car was advertised with, thank god, they were 18" fancy blingy things! 17's are preferred due to the piss poor state of Scottish roads.

The basic premis for the car is a fast rwd car with road and track capability without being so hardcore it's virtually unuseable. lightweight mods will pay for themselves from a performance point of view as they wont blow up if pushed and will allow the standard parts to function better. this applies mostly to the brakes which will only have uprated pads/discs due to the huge cost of larger rotors/calipers.

For easy navigation through the project i will list allocate specific modifications their own page numbers to save you time and quickly access what may interest you. Thanks for viewing!

Page list:

1- this page your already reading!

2- I love it when a plan comes together!

3- Parts ready, awaiting fitting.

4- B&M short shift, fully fitted.

5- stripout! in progress, last updated 29/1/09.

6- HID lighting. adapting kit to the headlight units.

hell yes good sir. fuck some blingy 18s, lightweight yet sturdy 17s are usually the better way to go. I agree with the bit about the roads in scotland haha I was driving a rental vauxhall around inverness back in 06 and planning another trip over there maybe over the summer. it was extremely difficult going from lhd to rhd man, i kept slappin the door going for the shifter and looking out my window for my rear view mirror haha, other than that it was a very interesting experience to say the least. one thing I did notice was the shitty cars that some of the little gits thought were fast, I gave one a big thumbs down as they flew past the rental and then a silvia raped him in a straight line right in front of us. I was laughing my ass off. (this was in Aberdeen) 300hp and a good suspension will be a very well balanced setup for what your going for tho man keep me posted on the progress. I may have to swing through your way if I come back there over the summer months and lend a hand turning some wrenches. peace bro

Most people never run far enough on their first wind to find out they've got a second. Give your dreams all you've got and you'll be amazed at the energy that comes out of you. Very clean, Great effort best ride. 5*

oh and another thing I forgot to mention because you're not familiar with the car... the body panels are plastic... so they obviously don't rust. Its a space frame with the panels attached to it.

Actually, contrary to your belief, our weather sucks as well, 75% of it being winter and rain conditions. With winter, we get a LOT of road salt being used. I was fortunate with my car because the previous owner had stored the car in the winter for most of its existence. I continue to do the same, and it probably has not seen road salt in 15 years. I over paid for the car, but was willing because the frame was in such good condition.
