MARCH 16-17, 2009
NEW DIY: Paint my 19 inch motegi gunmetal wheels gold(advan gold)
EXAMPLE OF FINSIHED PRODUCT:

Tools needed:

1. 2 cans of paint(any doesn't matter really) (about 5-6 soft coats each wheel)
2. primer (about 5 coats each wheel)
3. sandpaper(400 grit for taking old paint off)(1000-2000 grit for smoothing out wheel before primer).
4. notecards (U will see how this is used)
5. Clear coat (Optional, but recommended)(about 5 coats each wheel)
6. 5+ hrs for a solid finish ("one tries to do things right the first time not the second")lol
Project started: March 16, 2009 at 8:30 pm
STEP 1: I decided to start sanding my wheels for the next morning. i used alot of coarse 400, to get throught the clear coat.
BEFORE:
AFTER:

IT IS ALL BARE METAL NOW READY FOR PRIMER!!!!
STEP 2: Clean the wheels with soap and water and let it dry completely. then use the notecards like shown below around the lip between the tire and the wheel. this should help from overspray!

STEP 3: spray primer onto the wheel the first one a soft coat, then 4 more coats. so in total u have 5 coats of primer. (i waited 20-30 mins between each coat.)

Step 4: After primer dries put 1st coat of paint on wheels. MAKE SURE IT IS A SOFT COAT TO AVOID RUNNING!! Then wait 15-30 minutes between coats and apply a total of 5-6 coats of paint.
this is only the FIRST coat check back for more coats and finished product!!!!
Step 5: after waiting for last coat of paint to dry. apply 5 coats of clear coat per wheel. leave 30-40 minutes between each coat.
Step 6: Wait for wheels to dry then admire your work!!! :)

DIY PROJECT: CUSTOM E-BRAKE & BOOT SET UP
(LABOR: LESS THAN A HOUR)
-this process is basically the same as my project with the door panels! basically i bought about 1yard of fabric(vinyl), and a e-brake handle cover that u can find at autozone!
1) take the fabric and fit it around ur factory ebrake. trim it to fit, but keep in mind to leave about 3 inches on each side to tuck in the corners of the ebrake!
2) if you know how to sew, u can then hem the fabric where they overlap.
3) next take the ebrake cover(with 3M tape on it) and apply super glue to the edge facing the fabric. this super glue will act as the clinging agent between the ebrake cover and the fabric.
4) place the ebrake cover on the factory ebrake, making sure to line up the superglued end with the fabric u fitted around the e-brake handle.
5) hold tightly in place for about 2 minutes then ur all set! :)
