These are the two loves of my life, my Caballero and my niece, Courtney.

This is my Caballero after I first bought it. I paid $1000 for it. The body was solid and although it had a few minor dings it was totally rust free and had never taken any hard hits or body damage. The interior was in rough shape and it didn't have a reverse. It came with a 4.3 V6, a 200 metric trans and was peg leggin with a 241 gear.

Here she is after I installed the ground effects. I molded a fiberglass hood scoop onto my steel hood and ran it for a couple of years then ended up getting a steel cowl induction hood for it. I molded in the rear quarter extensions and roll pan, smoothed over the tag in the tailgate and moved it down to the roll pan. After knocking out all the dings and smoothing them out I primed the entire car with a couple of good coats of high build primer, blocked it out with a long block untill I got the body cherried out and ready for paint.

I applied the dark cobalt blue pearl to the body, candy blue SS stripes on the hood and graphics on the tail gate. I sprayed on a couple of coats of a good high quality clear, color sanded and buffed it out. I replaced both door glasses with new glasses and had a new windshield installed, all tinted glass. I polished all the stainless and chrome and replaced what needed to be replaced. Put on a new set of Weld wheel "Drag lite" rims and a new set of BFG's. Here are a few more.

I pulled out the V6 and put in this 350. I port and polished the heads and intake, had bigger valve installed with the three angle valve job, roller rockers, edelbrock performer carb and intake, headers, accell HEI HO distributor and a MSD ignition, a "High Energy" competition cam" with a nice choppy idle and excellent low to mid range torqe. It's also got a newly rebuilt 700r4 transmission. It runs really good.

I pulled out the bench seats and took a pair of 3rd generation camaro seats, recovered them with factory seat covers and bolted them down to my newly carpeted floor. You can't bolt the camaro seats to the El Camino floor using the camaro seat tracks but you can swap the camaro seat tracks out with a pair of El Camino seat tracks and they will work. While I had the interior stripped out I undercoated and lined the entire interior of the car with jute sound deadening pads for insulation and sound deadening. The blue NX racing seat covers you see in the pictures are on there just to keep my new seat covers clean. I recovered the headliner and visors with matching blue material. I bought a WalMart "Clutter Catcher" console with all intentions of using it temporarily untill I found a better one to replace it but after using it for awhile I think I like it and it don't look bad either. It's gray and black in the pictures but I've since sprayed it blue and black to match the interior. I think I'll keep it. I also installed a B&M Mega shifter and tach and gauges.

Heres my freshly rebuilt rear end. I took it out, sandblasted it, painted it the same color as my car. I had a racing buddy of mine proffesionally install and set up my rear end with a brand new Zexel Torson posi unit with richmond 373 gears. He put in all new bearings and seals and swapped out my stock 26 spline axles for a set of 28 spline axles out a grand national. I also installed one of those neat looking, but also functional, rear end covers. I installed a quick ratio steering box out of a third gen Z28 and the F41 suspension package out of a Monte Carlo SS. I installed a set of airbags to keep my tires from rubbing. I dualled it out with a set of flowmasters and stainless rectangular exhaust tips.
