The next couple of little projects are to finish installing the oil pan, then tackling the exhaust. I purchased a Thrush glass pack and it turned out that not only was the tailpipe slipped over the outlet of the original muffler, but it meant my Thrush was the wrong size. In addition to that, the exhaust pipe on the engine side of the muffler was pretty much rotted straight through... So I stopped by the local Exhaust Pros and once I have it running, they are going to be fabbing up a new exhaust with a 2-1/4 inch tube (1/2" bigger than what is there now when all is said and done). I also need to finish installing the added leaf for the springs in the rear to reduce the sag it is developing and I need to install the seatbelts and stereo that I purchased for practically nothing. More wiill be posted on that later!Oh, and a new option came to my attention for the intake / exhaust manifolds :) I now have the option of getting an intake/exhaust combo from Clifford that will allow me to run a 390 Holley 4 barrel carb and dual exhaust straight from the headers! This should DOUBLE my HP! WOO HOO! Only down side is that is going to set me back about $1k as an entire setup :( Guess I'll start saving now! So I had a gas leak after I fired it up from the newly rebuilt carb. Here are some pics, when I reassmbled it the plastic piece in the pics broke, anyone know where to get a new plastic piece like this? Okay so I grabbed a couple pics quick when I took out the dogs (sorry, for the fuzzyiness, I have to figure out what setting was changed on the camera, they normally aren't this bad). I also used photoshop to circle and comment on the part that broke. The circled part is the one that broke in two.
