The Resto:

Ok, well the resto starts... Slowly.

The underside has alot of surface rust on it, but nothing too major.  The gas tank was drained *sigh, and left for quite a while, so it rusted, along with everything in it. the sending unit is garbage, so new tank and unit are on the way for this old girl.

But, underneath the tank the body looks nice and clean. :)

Also pulled out what was left of the exhaust, as the last time the car was put on a trailer it got caught and was ripped off.  So for now its open 400 headers :P

Went to the local junk yard here today, and to my surprise there was a very clean 2nd gen camaro there.  So an hour later at closing time I walked out with two original doors for the old girl with only a little bit of surface rust on the bottom lip, and a couple minor door dings.  Cheap doors, and no shipping, and if I can get back there soon enough Im going to cut out the quarters from it as well :)

This is the roughest one out of the two doors, its rolled a little by the door handle, and has a dish dent in the middle of the door, other then that it is just surface rust, and for 30 bucks im not complaining :D  The drivers door is in much better condition, no body work, no dents, just minor surface rust.

Update:  Just got a wicked ebay find, got the pass side front grille for the car, post pics as soon as I get it!!  Other then that I sourced out the quarter panels both sides.  Been working on the GTA so not much time for this old girl :(

Nice find!!! I love the Solar Gold. I hope you keep it that color. I have a 1978 Solar Gold T/A with original paint and 55K. I had it 2 years now. I'm doing minor restoration-- carpet, door panels, engine detail, etc. Keep me posted on your progress. Gary K
