UPDATE: 08/08/2004 Latest Pictures!!
This is my 1973 Ford Gran Torino. It belonged to my Grandmother before she passed away. I acquired it on Feb 28, 2003 from the man who bought it from her estate sale. It's a light blue (paint code=3B) 2 door hardtop and is in wonderful condition! It had 59618 original miles on it when I bought it. The odometer currently reads 64,625 (I just can't resist driving it!) and I try to drive it at least twice a week. The black interior is in excellent condition with the exception of a small tear in the driver's seat and backrest.
Under the hood is a 302 V8 powerplant with factory A/C (works great!). The usual replacements were made (belts, hoses, plugs, etc.) after I brought it home. Just recently (8/04), I replaced the points with a Pertronix Ignitor solid state ignition from Dearborn Classics. This made an immediate difference in the engine performance. The shocks are standard gas-charged up front & Gabriel HiJacker air shocks in the rear...for a little lift. This car runs and rides like a dream!
Other improvements include a dual exhaust system for that throaty V8 sound that everyone loves and BIG exhaust tips to complete the look. The wheels are 15x7 mags from the Ultra Wheel Co. and the tires are UniRoyal TigerPaw GTS solid white letter (215/70R15 up front and 245/60R15 in the rear). On the "to do list" is a thorough cleaning of the underside and later, new paint. The paint is all original and looks great for a 31 year old car...but time has taken a toll on it in some places and new paint (same color) will keep her looking sharp!
