PROBLEMS WITH DEALERSHIPS
The whole engine replacement is because of the poor job that the dealership I was using did on the installation of several parts. I seems that me Durango had developed an antifreeze leak that was due to a cracked head, which was covered under warranty. I opted to get the Mopar Performance heads and intake to give the Durango a little more power, so I had to pay extra for the parts and labor to put those parts on. I supposedly paid good money to have the owner's personal Viper mechanic work on my engine because I am always leary about someone working on my vehicles. Come to find out a year later I would find out what kind of work even he does. For one, they forgot to install a thermostat which made the engine run so rich that you could smell fuel from the exhaust. It also developed an oil leak from poorly installed intake gaskets on the front and rear of the block and transmission fluid from a botched up shift kit install. I didn't notice the leaks until they finally filled up the skid plates and started dripping out. Also, their way of sealing up holes on an intake manifold was the use of duct tape, which really torqued me off. Speaking of torque, I found countless bolts that were loose that were causing minor leaks and vibrations. I won't name the dealership, but if you live in the midwest, don't visit the dealership that claims to be the largest Viper dealership in the nation. They are also a very prominent name in Viper racing which makes me wonder how good of a job they are doing on hundred thousand dollar race cars. They can give you a great price on a new car, but they have no service ability to speak of.
