PERFORMANCE MODIFICATIONS
The Durango has recently undergone extensive engine modifications. The heads are ported and polished R/T heads with 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust valves.

All the internals of the engine are heavy duty racing parts, including the forged crank, H beam rods, custom ground blower cam, hydraulic roller lifters, and 1.6 ratio roller rocker arms. The block is an R3 block which is much stronger than the current Magnum block. It will handle about 1000 hp versus the 600 hp of the Magnum block. You can see the greater amount of metal in the lifter valley of the new block versus the old.

New R3 Block

Here is the assembled block before it gets installed.

The deep aluminum transmission pan is from Mopar Performance. It give the tranny extra fluid capacity and also has a drain plug to make fluid change easier.

Because of the horsepower output of the new engine, it was necessary to upgrade many of the other systems as well. I got the exhaust system from GS Motorsports. The headers are the powerplate big tube R/T headers that helps smooth the flow between the heads and the headers. The exhaust is a true dual setup with 2 1/2" pipes and no catalytic converters. The exhaust tips are from Magnaflow. The entire exhaust was Ceramichromed for durability and looks.

The fuel system was changed out to a return style system with new fuel rails, Pro-lite 350 black nylon braided fuel line, auto-fit anodized fittings, Mallory adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and billet aluminum fuel filter.

To help control the fuel and spark needs of the new engine, a FAST stand alone fuel management system will be used which uses a wide band 02 sensor and allows the adjustment of the air/fuel ratio over the entire rpm band as well as controlling spark.
