IowaRanger’s Ford Ranger Regular Cab

    • Currently 3.6/5 Stars.

I found this truck in the paper for listed for $4500 dollars 2 and a half years ago. It didnt say anything was wrong with it so took a look at it. When I looked at this truck had alot of damage. The previous owner switched then engine over but that was it. Here is what was wrong with it.

-Cab corner up to the window was totally smashed in

-Hood, fender, grill were all smashed in

-Bumpers were all rusted

-Interior was shot and smelled like smoke.

-Tailights, headlights were either yellowed out or broken

-Bed was pushed in and bent

I talked to the owner and got it for 3000 dollars because it only had 40,000 miles on a 2002 engine

I rebuilt the entire truck from ground up pretty much

-replaced the hood, fender, both bumpers, all the lights front and rear,

-gutted the entire, cleaned the carpet, had a new headliner made, and put new seats in it.

-replaced the entire bed with a 95 splash bed only $200

-sanded everything down fixed the corner as much as I could and had a friend who paints cars and does body work on the side repaint and fix the corner of the truck

When it was first down it was perfect, but I use this thing for everything so its getting a little wear and tear on it.

Overall only spent $6000 including what I baught it for.

Ended up haveing to spend another $1500 redoing the enitre front end because the truck orginally had 300,000 miles on it. so 7500 all said and done.

IowaRanger's 1998 Ford Ranger When I repainted this truck I decided to put rock gaurd on the rocker panels and in the door so rust will never be a problem. This was the best thing I did with this truck.

IowaRanger's 1998 Ford RangerWhen I baught this truck it was a mess and I converted the inside to match that of a 2002 so it would match the engine.

IowaRanger's 1998 Ford RangerThis is a good shot ot the SVT stripes that i made to go with the the GT stripes on the hood.

IowaRanger's 1998 Ford RangerI put all new clear lights on the truck and new bumpers all around. I also put oversize tires on it 265 75 16. I plan to lift it with a bodylift and torsion bar crank and then put 33" tires on it with black rims.

IowaRanger's 1998 Ford RangerThis is the 2002 Ford Ranger FX4 engine that was put in it. The old 3.0 was blown so a parts truck was baught and everything was switched. It works great and has a lot of power. I also installed a cold air intake and a electric fan. I plan to install a supercharger down the road.

I installed a 3 inch torsion lift and im doing chevy leaf spring swap and 3inch Body lift but the weather sucks so it wont be posted until this spring. Also got a pair of 17's with Mickey Thompsons

Nice truck man! I have a 99 4wd supercab with the 3.0 5 speed combo and I have been wondering if anyone had a SOHC in a pre 01. Did you do it yourself? If so how hard was it? Did it bolt right up?
