1968 Fargo A100 Van
Fargo used to be a separate Chrysler division dating back to the 30's. Chrysler still used the copywritten Fargo name to brand the Canadian-made A-van and truck line, as well as Dodge, while Dodges were exclusively produced in the States.
Now that I'm getting into vintage vans, it troubled me when I heard of this apparently abandoned rare Fargo A100 van from a co-worker. I had to check it out.
Parked in back of a local business, sitting in a virtual swamp, I had to dig deeper.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I got permission from the business owner to check out the van on his property, along with a pair of rubber boots! Following up with searching for the owner from three related businesses, I got nowhere except that the vehicle was abandoned and maybe I could simply claim the vehicle... not quite how it happened.
Luckily the van was unlocked, and there were clues... some paperwork, an empty guitar case, and the name "Hundred Acre Woods" painted all over the van... either really creepy reference to Winnie the Pooh, or it just happened to be the name of a band.
Well, in fact it was a local band and I made a deal with the owner to buy the van from him! For the very reasonable price, I also met a pretty cool guy who still loves vans, but felt this one became a little too much to handle. Got a really good CD in the deal as well!
The owner told me there was issues with the engine. There are lots of rustouts in the rockers and rear bumper area, but otherwise looks solid... nosecone and FARGO badges look pretty good, but missing Fargo badges on the doors... got a 225 Slant Six with a 727 automatic transmission and heavy-duty chassis... just don't know what to expect from the undercarriage. Lotsa stuff in the back as well... I can see bus seats, a pair of slotted mags... hmmm.

Super cool find! If I ever do another it will be an A100 panel. Good luck! Mine is coming home from the suspension shop this week.
