Prowler573's 2005 GMC Envoy

Well, my previous ride cratered on me. After several years of getting severely beat-upon, just after rolling over 200K miles my 1995 Geo Prizm gave up the ghost.

So - needing another vehicle (and quick!) I hunted around for something a bit more comfortable. What I ended up with was a 2005 GMC Envoy XL, Liquid Silver Metallic in color, and bone-stock.

There are power windows, locks, and outside rearview mirrors though not power seats. Cruise, tilt, power steering and brakes (obviously). Its previous owner apparently had it optioned with the factory six-spoke chrome wheels. I'm not overly fond of these but they do look better than other OEM wheels I've seen on some rides.

It has the OEM "donkey-status" audio equipment consisting of a rather bland-looking AM/FM/CD receiver in the dash and whatever crap Delco speakers GMC saw fit to put in the front and rear doors.

My eventual plan (which likely won't really get off the ground until tax time '09) is to go with four SoundSplinter RL-i eight inch subs in an enclosure built to fit underneath the adjustable rear package shelf thing when in its upper position.

If any of you Envoy owners have any good ideas for me let me know! This is my first SUV purchase ever and I'm somewhat clueless thus far as to what direction to go with it.

It has the more common of the two engine options available for this vehicle - the Vortec 4200 4.2L I6. While certainly not awe-inspiring in any way it is more than adequate to shove this steroidal station wagon around with me at the tiller. With that in mind this will be my next vehicle that I have no delusions of grandeur that it could ever be any sort of performance-oriented ride.

It's a people-hauler, plain and simple. But with all that room in the back I can make it loud (audio-wise) and still have room to drag home a month's worth of groceries!
