I've been a little busy while I've been waiting to get enough money to buy an OEM headgasket set from Toyota. No, not from the idiots who rebuilt my engine. They can kiss my ass. I'm talking about another Toyota dealer that's near-by.
Anyway. I decided I would like to "dress-up" the engine a bit. So, the first thing to work on is the valve cover. Here she is before I took it off the engine.
Kinda looks bad. So I got myself a wire brush attachment for the electric drill and got to work.
That looks better, but she'll rust if I don't do something about it. So, off to Schucks for a sandpaper kit that consists of 230 grit, 330 grit, and 400 grit sandpaper and some Duplicolor Metal Cast Ground Coat and Metal Cast paint.
After gathering up the paint, sandpaper, and valve cover, we went up to the attic.....alone. I sanded it to a beautiful shine. Then applied the ground coat. Let her dry. I applied a couple of coats at least. Then applied the paint coat.
Another shot with my shitty digital camera. But you get the idea.Oh, I forgot to mention we took the head to the machine shop to be inspected. It passed all the tests!! So I don't need a new head afterall, which I thought would need to be replaced.
Now that sure looks a hell of a lot better, don't ya think? I can't wait to see what she'll look like when the engine is back together.
Oh, I decided to paint my emission tubes as well.
