Here we are in the stereo department.
I decided I wanted something that sounded a lot better than my old system. In fact, the old system barely worked at all. But when it did, I wasn't happy with the sound, the tape deck didn't work, and the radio reception was poor. So I decided to pick out something good, but wasn't going to break the bank too much.

My deck is a Pioneer DEH-P7700MP. It does MP3, has excellent radio reception, is satellite radio ready, and has the capability of reading my voltage. This was about $250 and I think it was well worth it.

For speakers, I decided on Pioneer. I don't remember the model numbers for these speakers. They were $50 a pair. But I know I could've got them a lot cheaper at Wal-Mart. Oh well. They also have excellent sound. I also installed a set of foam baffles behind them and hooked up a set of 150 HZ bass blockers to the fronts. The combination of the foam baffles and the bass blockers make a big difference in sound quality.
I figured that I have 4 inch speakers in the front and 5 1/4 inch speakers in the rear. But something was still missing. I'm listening to my favorite music and just couldn't figure out what is missing from my music. Then it dawned on me. Ah HA! BASS!!!! I probably went a tad bit overboard for that extra "punch" but I think I did good.

I have this system wired in stereo with a Profile HA1000 2 channel amplifier, so each speaker in the bandpass box is getting 160 Watts RMS per channel and 320 Watts Peak Power per channel. That's 320 RMS Total and 640 Watts Peak Total. Not too bad. The subwoofer is a Visonik with two 10 inch subwoofers in a bandpass box. I chose a bandpass because I wanted something that can do bass very efficiantly without a lot of demand from my electrical system.
Video of subwoofer shaking the mirror.
Any distortions you hear in the video is mainly the microphones in the camera. It could barely handle the SPL the subwoofer was putting out. I think this is pretty impressive. But after a while, I thought it was too much and I toned it down just a little bit to give me a much more natural sound.
Overall, my system was about $650 total. A lot of people spend a lot more for their systems. But this is probably where I'm going to stop. I also want to mention that the stereo system has received brand new electrical and speaker wire.
