zup28w's 1949 Hudson Commodore 6

This is a 1949 Hudson Brougham which my dad bought more than 30 years ago. He took the car completely apart. It sat in a warehouse (with parts in our basement and attic) for over 22 years before we started to put the car back together. The 1949 Body style debuted in 1948. Only difference is where the clips are on the side doors. It is these FIRST car that had a unibody design. This design as basically paved the way for almost every car on the road today. The joke is that with the 49 Hudson, there is no "Frame Off" restoration.

This Hudson comes with a 121 HP 262 Straight 6 Motor. It has a 3 speed manual transmission however there was an over-drive unit available at the time. The Twin-H carb setup which is well known in the auto industry didn't come out until a few years later in the Hornet.

There were several model choices in 1949. There was both a 6 and 8 cylinder engine available. There was the Super 6 and the Commodore packages, with the latter being the fancier with more bells and whistles. Body style wise, there was the 4 door sedan, 2 door coupe, 2 door brougham, and convertible.

Thanks all. Hope you enjoy the pics.
