i just need to get the correct circuit board or modify mine to run the oil gauge. since this picture i have also swapped the trip odometer for the one from my original speedo as i prefer the black on white numbers vs red on white that the 125mph speedo came with. oil gauge was on eBay (listed for a lebaron) and the cop speedo was via dealer online connection. even Parts Voice couldn't find me one! It's going to cost about $10k to restore my car, plust a few more to finish collecting the parts I plan to run. Decided that a built automatic is not gonna cut it for me in the performance department (stick shift is better on the street.....and give better fuel economy on the highway). I picked up a rust free parts car for sheetmetal...88 Aries 2dr with original 5spd (and a 2.2 turbo intercooled conversion interestingly enough). Other than the long doors and associated metal work, the floor/rocker/rear pan are the same as the 4dr and wagon (same wheelbase). This car has the rare shorty 5spd console only found on 87-89 Aries and Reliant (just have to change the color from maroon to tan), the shifter mount that is welded to the floor, clutch/brake pedal combo, clutch cable support bracket on the driver strut tower (my car has a plastic plug to fill the 2 holes because it is an auto). As for the transmission itself, I will not be using the a520 from this car and instead have a 568/523 hybrid built (92 gearset gearset with deeper first gear, 3.50FD from 523 using a Quaife from a 95-99 Neon T350 5spd). With expected power in the 200hp/250tq range - should be able to do 60mph in 6 seconds, do the 1/4 mile around 14 seconds, top 150mph and get 35mpg on the highway if I keep it under 60mph. Not bad for a 25 year old econobox and nobody will be the wiser!
